We showed up without a reservation (not recommended). However we were greater with warmth and a complementary champagne! The steaks were awesome. The wine was great! The service even better. Also loved the inside which was decorated by empty wine bottles that the guest have written messages on. Worth the wait.

Ordered ojo de bife which was perfect. One of the best we have ever eaten. They cooked it rare to medium as we ordered. Waitress chose a wine akin to our taste. Service was also perfect despite the fact that the place was full. We will definately go back there again!

This restaurant is an unassuming wooden building in a lively neighborhood, with tables crowding the sidewalk. Inside, it looks like a typical grill, with wooden tables and chairs and lots of previously opened wine bottles on the walls; and with linen table cloths. My steak, bife de chorizo (the standard steak fare in Buenos Aires) cooked a punto jugoso (medium... More

Enjoyed a hearty and reasonable meal at Don Julio. It was recommended in all the guide books, by our hotel and by a guest staying at our hotel. We had a table upstairs which was quite noisy and a little stuffy. I would definitely request a table on the main floor or outside. The food was delicious. My husband said... More

My wife and I went to Don Julio for a Saturday night dinner in BA. The restaurant was full of other Americans like us, which to be honest we didn’t mind. Our waiter spoke great English (plus French), and made us feel at home right from the start. The steak paired with red wine was perfecto, and we also thoroughly... More

We made reservations for Don Julio before we left the UK on friends recommendations and it did not disappoint. We had the sweet breads to start - delicious, followed by 2 hearty steaks, washed down with a bottle of local Malbec. Great atmosphere, fabulous food, good service - lived up to its expectations!

Don Julio is already a traditional meat restaurant in Buenos Aires. Nowadays you may find hundreds of meat restaurants in this city. But the real difference is made by the quality of the meat, taste, cooking point and excellent attention of the waiters. They would also recommend precisely the size of the portions. Price is average for this type of... More

This a lovely and authentic Argentine restaurant with great food and great wines. The service is also excellent. My partner and I shared a Bife de chorizo with a salad and a bottle of wine and it was all we needed. The is a great spot to stop at for lunch and rest a bit from exploring Palermo.

Very good meat. Fun, but you won’t be the only tourist around. I suggest to make a reservation when in larger groups.

Staying in Palermo

Neighborhood Profile
Palermo
Best known as the largest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favorite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.
