Unexpected delight

As the restaurant of our choosing was closed we decided to just continue on Blauwklippen Rd and found ourselves on the road to Dornier Wine Estate and Bodega. After a long absence because of disappointment, we returned for a leisurely late lunch. We were greeted by very friendly staff and felt well looked after, except it took an extraordinarily long time between the order and the arrival of the food, even though it was not overly busy. The most positive aspect was the quality of the Flammkuchen (... More

We had a very good meal here, innovative combinations, perfectly cooked and well presented. We brought our own wine and that wasn't a problem - despite it being on a wine farm. The staff were charming. Portions truly epic - I initially thought it was a multiple choice type of menu but, no, they brought us the lot. This is... More

Having had several good experiences at the Bodega restaurant over the past 3 years, we decided to book for the New Year's Eve dinner. We were not disappointed. The food (every course) was excellent and the wines superb. The service was very good, with the waitress asking whether we we wanted to proceed with the next course or relax for... More

We visited the wine tasting cellar first and then went off for a simply scrumptious meal, different setting, different presentation of the dishes, and the use of side dishes that go well with the meal chosen. Loved the time spent there, definitely not a place to rush through, plan to take your time and enjoy the whole experience.

One cannot ask for a better "setting", especially if you are seated outside. The available dishes, from starter to dessert, caters for almost everyone. Pricing for a one, two or three course meal is reasonable. However.....................this is my third or fourth visit and the last two outings we ordered "Don Pedros". It would appear that whoever makes these has no... More

We were a group of 6 adults going for Sunday lunch. We arrived at 1230 and our orders were placed promptly with a friendly waiter. We were sitting outside enjoying the beautiful landscape. After about an hour we started getting antsy and called our waiter to ask what is taking so long. He apologised and said that the food was... More

A beautiful setting for enjoying a leisurely lunch on the stoep. There is a fairly comprehensive menu. We started with asparagus and then progressed to pork loin for one and flamkuchen springbok for one. All well prepared and presented. The service was delightful with a knowledgeable waitron who advised on appropriate wine. Nothing was hurried and so we could relax,... More

The menu is small and unpretentious with interesting dishes including their famous Flamküchen. Good wine, beautiful views and friendly, efficient service. A nice place for a casual lunch.

It was busy at the Bodega, with the tourists arriving in hordes. We got a table outside but waited more than an hour between the starter and the main course. When one of us went inside, he could hear an altercation in the kitchen - so there were obviously problems. When our shared seafood platter eventually arrived, it was overcooked,... More
