Java Cafe

Sat outside at the Java Cafe . The menu is varied and relatively inexpensive . The service was ok and you do have people smoking outside . A cappuccino costs R14 burger R65 . The most expensive items like beef fillet cost around R135 . It's nice to relax and watch the passing parade of people down... read more

While staying in Stellenbosch for a holiday we found Java Cafe and made it our hang out spot for the week we were there. We mainly went there for sun-downers after a day of wine tastings. It has very relaxing environment, the staff are friendly and it fills up quick after 4pm, so best hurry to get a seat. Parking... More

We managed to get a table outside next to the lively main street at the nearby vibrant Java cafeteria. We had a very enjoyable evening meal of beer, bottle of wine, mains, cheeseboard and port for R500 (£28). The staff couldn't believe how much a bottle of wine is in London and the manager apologised for only having one type... More

We stayed at the hotel across the road and were disappointed with their meals so visited Java for a quick lunch and dinner. The tables are very crowded, but that is part of the ambience, it is a café, not fine dining. For lunch I had a beer and my wife just wanted a sandwich, so although not on the... More

Our driver recommended this place. He said it was always busy and food was cheap. We sat outside and waited quite a while before anyone came. The waiter took our orders but i have to say wasnt particularly friendly. I ordered a tortilla wrap with chicken and bacon but it was awful. The bacon was really fatty and after getting... More

The omlette was horrible, with a strange smooth texture and feeling of processed cheese. The croissant with bacon and egg was cold. Service was excellent and quick.

After travelling around by car it was great to walk round the corner from our hotel and find a bit of shade to enjoy a cold beer or two. Nice to sit back and watch life go by. Enjoyed a huge thai chicken salad, fantastic value , not surprised that it is always busy

We arrived in Stellenbosch on Easter weekend meaning most of the attractions we hoped to visit were shut. We ventured in to town and stumbled upon Java and boy I'm glad we did. Loved the smoothies, the pork belly was the best I've ever had, and the staff were great.
