Great Modern Cafe in Downtown Stellenbosch

We stayed at the hotel across the road and were disappointed with their meals so visited Java for a quick lunch and dinner. The tables are very crowded, but that is part of the ambience, it is a café, not fine dining. For lunch I had a beer and my wife just wanted a sandwich, so although not on... read more

Had lunch at this restaurant on a corner in the heart of Stellenbosch. Service was ok, food was excellent and well presented. Relaxing and enjoyable surroundings!!

Our driver recommended this place. He said it was always busy and food was cheap. We sat outside and waited quite a while before anyone came. The waiter took our orders but i have to say wasnt particularly friendly. I ordered a tortilla wrap with chicken and bacon but it was awful. The bacon was really fatty and after getting... More

The omlette was horrible, with a strange smooth texture and feeling of processed cheese. The croissant with bacon and egg was cold. Service was excellent and quick.

After travelling around by car it was great to walk round the corner from our hotel and find a bit of shade to enjoy a cold beer or two. Nice to sit back and watch life go by. Enjoyed a huge thai chicken salad, fantastic value , not surprised that it is always busy

We arrived in Stellenbosch on Easter weekend meaning most of the attractions we hoped to visit were shut. We ventured in to town and stumbled upon Java and boy I'm glad we did. Loved the smoothies, the pork belly was the best I've ever had, and the staff were great.

We stayed upstairs from the Cafe and were amazed at the place was packed from early morning to late at night. After a day on the wine farms we felt like a quick bite. The water in the area was switched off because of a pipe burst and we didn't expect to get food but they made a plan! There... More

We use Java Café often, for meetings during the business day. The location is excellent for this purpose and the service is very good. The coffee is excellent and their is a good menu if one needs a snack or lunch for the longer visits. The only negative is that although there is wi-fi offered it is very slow and... More

Ended up here by accident, all others booked. Vibrant & busy. My friend had the burger & said its the best he's had, ever! He's over 60 so that's a lot of burgers! All our meals were lovely, ready in about 20 mins despite the place being packed, hot, fresh & served with a smile . Very cheap & fantastic... More
