Bright, brash but good seafood

We were recommended to go here, though looking at it, it seemed bright and brash. However we were very pleasantly surprised by the team, the service and the food. It is situated on the first floor, and you look out over a walkway. As we all love seafood, the menu is packed with a great selection... read more

Not a lot of atmosphere, but staff very friendly. You need a large appetite to manage one of their platters on your own, so take a few friends and share a couple of dishes. Always ask which fish is fresh on the night, as sometimes they do not get any in. It is easy to find, upstairs on the Quays,... More

We have eaten here several times in our short stay in the area. Not at all disappointed. Sushi, prawns oysters, fish all good. Lunch as well as evening. Service good and food as requested........our expectation for a chain restaurant was surpassed. View from balcony great especially at sunset.

Like all the eating places on the Waterfront the food was ok but much better places in town. Our waitress warned us that the paella was cajun and quite spicy in fact it was bland.

We have been visiting Ocean Basket in Birchacres for 12 years and decided to visit the Knysna branch. The service was average however we were served our platter for 5 and then expected to eat on side plates which were cold. The lemon wedges arrived well after the platter, the white vinegar never arrived, the salads came after the main... More

The food was ok, staff friendly and manger too. We ordered the sushi which was a take away quality. Wouldn't recommend it. The variety of seafood and fish on the menu looked great and they had a nice selection of wines.

This is not the worst Ocean Basket! The worst is at the V&A waterfront in Cape Town. We only had sushi here and the quality is just take away or less. Staff friendly but that's it.

Im going to keep this short. Visited this establishment twice whilst in Knysna. First time wasn't bad but confronted the manager as to why they used the same containers for their sauces as well as for the soy sauce for Shushi...how do u fit a piece of Shushi into one of those??? She told me that was what they ordered... More

We visited on 4th Jan for a birthday lunch. Place was packed and waited 20 minutes for a table which was fine as it was lunch time. The waiter took our drinks order and promptly brought our drinks. the jug of lemonade was tasteless and we decided never again. At the same time she took our lunch order and we... More
