As the name suggests, meant for people who love sea good. The place can get packed - so advisable to go with a reservation. Great choice for the non-vegetarians and the wife had a calamari steak with vegetables which she says was pretty good. Being a vegetarian, I made do with some aubergines cooked with some cheese and other vegetables.... More

Though somewhat unpreposessing in appearance this restaurant is one of the best in town. The decor is simple and unsophisticated but the food is of the highest quality. The staff are very knowledgable about all the dishes and the way they are prepared and will happily offer you advice if you wish. Excellent if you enjoy all the products of... More

Just a short walk and then a pleasant table for four and quite an extensive menu and all food served was very good. The service backed up the standard of the food.

It's always a bit of a gamble when choosing a new restaurant in a strange place. This was a first class choice. The restaurant is very popular, therefore booking is recommended, but the range of choice, level of service and quality of food was excellent

We dined in the Anchorage, which seems always full, not too big, and with a noisy friendly atmosphere. The service was excellent, our waitress even drove us home when the taxi did not show up! We found the meat and fish dishes generous and tasty with a good range of starters and wines. A popular and good quality choice for... More

The Anchorage was recommended by our Band B and was very disappointing. Perhaps they had the reserve team cooks on duty but a poorly cooked meal and unadventurous menu was accompanied by a kitchen flare up which caused the place to be over-run with acrid fumes. These went unnoticed by the staff but they drove us out especially early. Fish... More

This is our favourite restaurant in Central knysna. Never been disappointed whatever we have chosen. Service is excellent. Not got the lagoon views but don't think it can be beaten

We were fitted in on the last available table, thanks to a quick phone call from our host at our b&b to the restaurant manager. Good meal, buzzing atmosphere and obviously very popular with fellow Brits! I tried the ostrich steak and was very pleasantly surprised - it was tender and tasty.

We are regular visitors to knysna and have been coming to this restaurant the last couple of years. It is fantastic, it is always hard to choose what to have as it is all consistently good. The fillet steak is melt in the mouth! The owner and staff are all very pleasant and attentive. We always go here more than... More
