Great food, healthy, tasty, fresh, clean surroundings, pleasant atmosphere and very good value for money. Sandwiches to die for.

How sad that the best eatery in Knysna had to burn down. The best croissants by far. Seems like it might be a long time before it is running again....

Sadly this restaurant is no longer operating as a result of a fire in the building. We can only hope that it may re-open after repairs.

Went here for a quick lunch and was on a tight schedule. The friendly staff took our time constraint into consideration and we had fantastic service and amazing food. The bread was amazing, home made and fresh everyday- I came back the next day and ordered a whole basket with nothing but bread and spreads so i could try them... More

This is one of the great spots in Knysna, but has recently closed due to a severe fire. We hope that they will be up and running again soon, but I recommend that you check if they are open before making plans. The fire happened in May 2015.

Went there twice (and had to queue because everybody seems to like it) and enjoyed casual dining amongst locals and visitors. Simple but very good. Friendly service and tasty meals and convincing choice of coffee.

This iconic Knysna restaurant is currently closed due to fire. All Knysnerians are mourning the loss of the best bread and pasties in South Africa. No news but ll are waiting a new Ile de Pain to arise from the ashes.

What I had was good don't get me wrong but I have tried several times to eat here and always packed with queues so I was expecting something outstanding - it wasn't. To me the menu was limited and not that inspiring - sorry everyone!

Modern bakeries bake cost effectively but loose the bread taste in the process. Ile du Pain goes through incredible efforts to ferment dough over many hours/days to develop the original bread flavours. Expensive process, but I do not mind paying three times more for a loaf, which is still a small expense compared to other tasty foods like cheese and... More
