Not exactly a restaurant... Not exactly a bar... Definitely not a deli... Well, not exactly a deli... It's an eating place, a drinking place and definitely a meeting place. And it's a gift shop, a clothing emporium, a food store, a fish monger and a bakery, too. And the finest wine shop this side of the grape curtain. Disappointing

This is a large place and very popular. I expected it to be better than it was given the number of people. The fish was good, with cold chips and veg--it needed to be better. The service was fine. A place where most customers are visiting the area so lacking in effort. I wouldn't go back.

Ordered sushi here - ok maybe that was our mistake, because it wasn't great. But, the service is the real reason to give this place a pass. We ordered a sushi platter that had a picture that looked very different than what was presented. We also ordered 2 rolls to supplement. When the food arrived, the roll that we ordered... More

Huge place, patio seating outside, sushi bar....busy place on the waterfront. The view is of the interior waterway canal. The waiters were loud and distracted by each other. management oblivious. Our meals were plentiful but unappealing. My partner had the seafood pasta. Five hours later he was very ill. Our guest house hostess said it is a very popular place... More

Introduced to 34 South in Knysna by friends when I visited for a holiday. What a delightful experience of good food and excellent service. Although filled to the brim, the manager made a table available and helped me in choosing my main meal. The staff is professional without compromising the holiday vibe. Will be back.

As a local of many years standing and having eaten here many times we enjoyed a pleasant meal last night with a party of friends. Between us we had steak, calamari, pasta and stir fry chicken and everyone remarked that the food was tasty. A helpful waitress, and fairly good service made for an enjoyable evening.

It is essential to book for this restaurant. It is very popular and rightly so. The menu is imaginative. Try the oysters cooked in garlic like snails.

We went to 34 South following an excursion on the lagoon. It was a delicious seafood feast in an outdoor breezy setting. Definitely worth going to for oysters, sole and prawns!

34 South has a really varied menu and nice atmosphere. Head out early for dinner though - we found they were sweeping up under our feet well before 10pm. The seafood curry and seafood pasta dishes were really yummy and the service was generally good. The attached shop is worth a look too. They do fresh salt and pepper baguettes... More

My wife and I visited with the intention of only seeing the seahorses in the tank and then decided to extend it to supper as well and we're glad we did. Fresh oysters & sumptuous seafood & sushi. Staff are a bit slow to get to you but the place is very busy so that can be overlooked.

This is the one meal that I would go back to Knysna for--all I had were four oysters, dammit, because all four ATM's within reach were out of money? Or something? So while I ran around trying to find some more rand, my husband ordered for me. Only four tiny moments of pure bliss. These oysters were to die for.... More
