Description: Not exactly a restaurant... Not exactly a bar... Definitely not a deli... Well, not exactly a deli... It's an eating place, a drinking place and definitely a meeting place. And it's a gift shop, a clothing emporium, a food store, a fish monger and a bakery, too. And the finest wine shop this side of the grape curtain. And it's always on one, single line of latitude - the 34th parallel (but only on the Waterfront at the Knysna Quays).

6 of us dined here. 1 had the Thai chicken which tasted ok but was cold. The rest of us had various meals all of which were so heavily salted we couldn't eat them even though we were really hungry and the fillet steak was more gristle than steak. Nice waitress though

This is a typical 'tourist trap' kind of place, located down on the waterside with another 5 cheap/cheerful family style restaurants - with one exception - which is that their seafood is magnificent! We had seafood bisque, oysters and a Malay fish curry - all of which were spot on. If you like your seafood, then this a good place... More

Great concept, very busy with a real buzz. Food excellent but pricey for Knysna. Sushi bar really nice and very well prepared. Great service. Would return.

Its always so difficult to leave Knysna because of 34 south. Food is great and the best service that makes you feel home, specially from Sash.

Service a bit marred by a power cut which restricted things somewhat. A popular place nonetheless. Oyster were very good.

The oysters were fresh and as promised by the locals, the best we've tasted. Sadly this was the only good part of our dinner. Hubby's main course had to be sent back because it was raw - hake-staple food that should be easy to cook and my mussel pot had little to no flabour. Service was pretty average and the... More

Great family restaurant with a broad menu including the world famous local oysters. Sushi was ok and the fish was fresh but the best thing about this restaurant was the atmosphere and super friendly staff with a menu that was big enough to be able to find something to suit everyone's taste. Relaxed atmosphere and nice position. The food was... More

My partner and I dined at 34 South for dinner after a lady at our hotel recommended the establishment. We shared a bottle of wine and oysters served with lemon and tabasco - they were nice and fresh. For our mains we shared mussels and the fish special (king clip). Everything we ordered was enjoyable and filling but after dining... More

Waiter was great (Sascha), food excellent (calamari, pizzas, sushi) and the prices reasonable. Other than some of the more well known establishments in the waterfront, they really value customers and make sure you are well looked after.

The view from here is not as good as most of the other Waterfront restaurants but the food more than makes up for it. The waiter was very pleasant and my steak (fillet cooked medium) was amazing.
