La Vierge, French for 'The Virgin', is nestled in the folds of the breathtaking Hemel-en-Aarde Valley (Heaven and Earth) close to Hermanus. Our lovingly tended vineyards, situated in Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, are characterized by long cool summers influenced by the close proximity of the Atlantic Ocean. Using sketches and drawings by renowned British artist, Sir Michael Adams who works and lives in the Seychelles, a design language was created that reflects the rich symbolism associated with the Hemel-en-Aarde area. Our crest represents Adam and Eve pondering the Serpent and Apple.

Wine with a view!

Hemel-en aarde means "Heaven and Earth" but here the view is close to Heaven on Earth. The restaurant has a stunning view over this beautiful valley. We started with a Greek Salad that was not on the menu and it was fresh and tasty. I had the yellow tail line fish: done to perfection. It was juicy and full of... More

Beautiful setting, the views to the sea across the vineyards is incredible. Combine that with attentive service and delicious, carefully crafted food and you have a winning combination. A succulent yellowtail and a rare rib eye, exactly as ordered, were great choices. A limited Wine List, only from their estate, is the only negative. But not a game changer.

The view is spectacular down the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley to the sea. There had been a long wedding the previous night so the staff seemed sleepy - one side plate was missing, then a knife, menus were brought again after we had ordered. The prawn and calamari starter was very good, the mussels also. Those who had lamb and yellowtail spoke... More

Nice venue, beautiful view and that's where it stops. Wine is nice but nothing special and the service is mediocre. Staff moved slower than the average sleep walker. Information about the wines where lines from a script learned by heart and glasses and wine bottles where carried around like a pair of old socks. Kitchen staff apparently gets confused by... More

I came here for lunch with my parents, the selections of wine was limited, we were served a tasting platter, which was totally over priced, and dried out offerings. The meal that followed was tasty enough, very small portions, and again over priced. The service was poor, and the room had a lovely view, but was so hot, and could... More

Having made a reservation months in advance and reading the reviews I was looking forward to trying out this restaurant with friends. Everything started off well with a wine tasting but thats when things started to go downhill. The waitress showed us to our table and after an average wait came back to take our orders. My husband was excited... More

Friendly staff seated us at a breath-taking view that compensated for the average main course. The real treat was dessert - pinotage sorbet blew us away. And the creme brûlée hit the spot.

We were pleasantly surprised by the great food! We haven't see the comments on trip advisor and just bumped into the place driving around. The waiters were quick and nice. The portobella was magnificent. So, yes it's really a place we would visit again.
