La Vierge, French for 'The Virgin', is nestled in the folds of the breathtaking Hemel-en-Aarde Valley (Heaven and Earth) close to Hermanus. Our lovingly tended vineyards, situated in Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, are characterized by long cool summers influenced by the close proximity of the Atlantic Ocean. Using sketches and drawings by renowned British artist, Sir Michael Adams who works and lives in the Seychelles, a design language was created that reflects the rich symbolism associated with the Hemel-en-Aarde area. Our crest represents Adam and Eve pondering the Serpent and Apple.

We had our monthly wine club there last week and I was so excited to be going to La Vierge Restaurant... but how dissapointing! There was not enough food to go around and the little I did have was nothing to write home about.. There was some or other vegetable starter with half a slice of bread and chicken wings... More

Had our monthly food and wine pairing evening at La Vierge and unfortunately they weren't able too feed us, had some carrot, celery and cucumber sticks and some garlic butter with some(one small piece per person) stingly handed out bread, then came very tasty chicken wings but unfortunately that was it and not even enough, still waiting for mains, mmm... We had our monthly wine appreciation group last night and it turned out to be my worst experience and from reading all the comments this morning there wasn't one good comment about the evening from the group of 40. What a pity the place has so much potential in a magnificent valley. Not sure how many of the group will... More

The views at La vierge are great and nice decor BUT tiny paper serviettes,no fork, waiter who had no clue about the menu and had to ask the chef but still could not tell us what "bitterballen" were other than to explain that the dish was a consomme. The steak (medium rare) was grey and we had to wait while they... More

We booked a table for 1pm and when we arrived I could see that there was not enough waiters to help. We were a big group of 10 and was seated. After 10 min we were still not sure who was our waiter and I had to walk to the kitchen to get someone to order drinks. We placed our... More

This is set in a vineyard on the side of a high hill, with great views toward the coast. The wines are quite good and cheekily named. The food was okay and good value, but the wait staff-despite taking orders on I-pads- forget things like the bubbly with the oysters and side orders. The bubbly came 10 minutes after the... More
