Starters good, but curries were HORRIBLE. The lamb in the curries was heavily boned tough fat; off cuts so terrible we barely ate. We make a better curry on a normal day at home ( and I can't cook to save my life!). It was so disgusting we left rather than have dessert. Groupon may have been discounted, but it... More

Very good Indian experience (sans liquor because it's in a Muslim district) in the Bo-Kaap. Food was exquisite and the setting very comfortable and relaxed. Generous portions! WILL be going back to try the rest of the menu

Jewel of india in Bo-kaap has changed management! The food was terrible and the chefs served all the food at once including starters, main meal and dessert. THe standards have really gone down. I booked a buffet meal for 20 people and made the booking a month in advance. To my surprise they made food which was not on our... More

We have previously eaten at the Jewel of India when it was located in the V&A waterfront, and have been surprised at the recent poor reviews. The restaurant was relocated to the historic Bo Kaap (Malay Quarter) of Cape Town. Parking is easy, and free and the neighborhood is very safe. The new restaurant is austere to say the least... More

The location of this place is a plus. Food and service were average! Staffs were kinda pushing us out as though it's closing time! Subji's were oily and butterly with very less flavor!

What can i say other than that i was ill for 24 hours after eating at this place. Had the worst food poisoning ever from their Chicken Korma (which was not nice at all and it was very hot even though it clearly stated it would not be). Avoid if you know whats good for you!

So I read the reviews but had to go anyway. I tried to keep an open mind. At best the service was ok as was the food. Nothing special. Basic sort of Indian food toned down for the tame palate. Prices are not excessive. All in all I would not rush there but would not avoid it Note that they... More
