Very cool

This is an excellent restaurant. Food and face painting, what more could you want? The food itself is really delicious and there is plenty of it. The staff were friendly and the performance during dinner was brilliant and lots of fun.

Sure, this restaurant definitely caters to tourists, but it didn't feel like they were trying to rip you off, which was nice. The entire evening was so much fun - from the staff members going around painting faces, to the entire waitstaff breaking out into African songs, to the incredible selection of food we got to try. We didn't love... More

We are staying at the Cape Heritage hotel, so it seemed a good idea to eat here, as it is situated in the same location. Good choice! We were well looked after from the start, the food was amazing; too much too eat, though- it was hard to send food back. But that is the idea - they bring you... More

With only a short time in Cape Town we visited Africa Cafe for a late dinner with friends. We knew it was aimed at tourists (lil gift shop was a tempting) so had a fun but relaxing time, and after a long day of travel we were all grateful not have to choose the menu. We had a lovely evening,... More

A friend highly recommended this restaurant - unfortunately, it turned out that we have quite different expectations for what is reasonable to expect for 275 ZAR. Africa Cafe's set menu costs 275 ZAR; there are no other options, but you may order as much as you like. The food comes from all over Africa, but is sadly very dull; the... More

Went to the cafe for dinner for our last night in Cape Town and it was such a great experience! From to food to the music to the face painting, we all had so much fun and made our last night start with a bang! Would definitely recommend this restaurant for groups!

They serve you a fixed menu here, always in bowls that they place in the middle of the table - the dishes are from different african regions, so you have a great variety. The food is really good, and quite extraordinary, it was a pity that we couldn´t finish it, because it was SO much! I would have liked it... More

This place is a must if you are in the area. Its got a varied and different menu with lots of local meats and dishes. I wasn't game to try the 'Smiley' but I did try the game meats and it was great. There was also African music the night we were there.

This was a really fun place to have dinner. It is a preset dinner menu that represents various culinary aspects of different African countries. The food was good and plentiful, the service was very friendly. They had a great selection of South African wines. During dinner they do a drum, dance and sing a long and you are encouraged to... UK visitors and Cape Town locals went to Africa Cafe on Friday night for dinner. I was the only one who had dinned there previously and it was great to see the other faces, when the staff did the hand washing and the face painting. The drumming and singing was another highlight. The food, as always, was outstanding. I have... More
