great food, but too much to finish ;-)

They serve you a fixed menu here, always in bowls that they place in the middle of the table - the dishes are from different african regions, so you have a great variety. The food is really good, and quite extraordinary, it was a pity that we couldn´t finish it, because it was SO much! I would have... read more

This place is a must if you are in the area. Its got a varied and different menu with lots of local meats and dishes. I wasn't game to try the 'Smiley' but I did try the game meats and it was great. There was also African music the night we were there.

This was a really fun place to have dinner. It is a preset dinner menu that represents various culinary aspects of different African countries. The food was good and plentiful, the service was very friendly. They had a great selection of South African wines. During dinner they do a drum, dance and sing a long and you are encouraged to... UK visitors and Cape Town locals went to Africa Cafe on Friday night for dinner. I was the only one who had dinned there previously and it was great to see the other faces, when the staff did the hand washing and the face painting. The drumming and singing was another highlight. The food, as always, was outstanding. I have... More

Enjoyed the chicken wings and the chicken mango and the spicy beef, basically everything is good. The casaba (sp?) bread seemed like a cheese bread and was warm and very tasty. The music and face painting was a plus. Wait staff was attentive.

Four of us had dinner here. The food is authentic and plenty of it. The staff sang traditional songs and painted our faces. We had a great time. Good value too.

We discovered this place thanks to our French guide. The concept is simple: 1 menu to discover the African gastronomy from East to West. You will taste 14 different dishes which will give you a nice overview of what you can eat in Africa. The waitresses contributes to the nice ambiance of the place as they wear traditional clothes and... More

Africa cafe is fun, lively and full of great atmosphere. You are encouraged to eat with your hands (although cutlery is available) as the staff bring out a range of African dishes being cooked that day. There is music, face painting, and I absolutely loved trying all the food - definitely recommended in cape town and great value.

A good tourist experience - the R225 set menu providing a taste of Africa through a succession of dishes supported by the staff breaking into song. Great fun.

My friend & I stumbled on this little gem by accident & we couldn't of been more pleased! The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully throughout. The staff were exceptional throughout the evening - very friendly, attentive & willing to share their culture & heritage. The food was plentiful & cooked perfectly. We wish we could of ate more but we... More
