Good Italian dining close to the waterfront

Upmarket Italian restaurant. A most enjoyable and fun evening with old friends with a perfect recipe: good friends, good food and good wine! A well put together menu that should please those seeking authentic Italian dining.

Had dinner last night with an old friend. The welcome was just perfect. We were late for our reservation but the wonderful Frankie was kind and understanding. I had the first rate fish carpaccio and my friend the mussels. Great. The house white worked a treat. For main I let Frankie decide for me. She produced a fabulous piece of... More

If you're not into wheat, or you're following a low carb diet, then rush over to Il Leone for their Banting pasta options. We had the zucchini with prawns in a rich tomato sauce with layers of flavours, and it was the most delicious bowl of food I've had in a while. Who needs traditional pasta if the alternative can... A friend recommended Il Leone, after seeing some impressive reviews we decided to give a go. First of all I received a phone call earlier the day confirming my reservation(good start), then on arrival was given a parking spot by a friendly car gaurd, next up was another friendly front of house showing us to our table. Straight away you... More

Sadly,Cape Town has very few real Italian restaurants, most serving up the usual pizza and pasta. Not so at Il Leone. The food is great. Unfortunately the menu remains static, so after visiting a few times there are no surprises in store. They push their prawn pasta and quite rightly so. Its a cool place to be, so don't miss... More

We visited Il Leone last night and from the minute we entered I knew it was going to end well. The welcome , the efficiency of the hostess and the way were made to feel part a family was so professional and special. The menu offered a good variety of vegetarian, fish, meat and pasta dishes. The specials had offerings... More

If you like good genuine Italian food in an elegant setting with superb service Il Leone is the place. For suburban dwellers it's in a revived part of town with good parking. It's proximity to the CTICC and the Waterfront enables a quick opportunity to meet with travelling business colleagues. There is also no reason to not celebrate a family... More

An experience! The prawn Pasta is to die for. The menu is great and never had a bad meal here. The service is professional which is lacking lately in the Cape Town area. This is also a spot that will make you want to take your friends there so that you can go back.
