Description: Steeped in over 300 years of history, the former guard house, tea room...
Steeped in over 300 years of history, the former guard house, tea room, hotel and the hunting lodge of Lord Charles Somerset has been elegantly restored with the charm and sophistication of the Grand Old Cape. The style of cuisine at The Roundhouse is uncomplicated, contemporary French, inspired by seasonal ingredients and paired with one of the finest boutique wine collections in South Africa. South African born, PJ Vadas combines his worldly culinary skills with influences from the Cape to create an exquisite four course menu.

Stunning Setting overlooking Camps Bay

This hidden gem overlooking Camps bay is a stunning setting for lunch and is a must for anyone who likes a lazy afternoon with great food, wine and views of the Bay. The platters full of delicious cheese, meats and dips are great for sharing, and the wine list is excellent.

The Roundhouse itself is a fine dining restaurant so we went with high expectations of simpler but equally delicious fare in the garden. What a disappointment. We both ordered burghers expecting something freshly made out of pure ground beef - what arrived was a solid, tasteless mess, the sort of patty caterers buy frozen in packs. Others ordered chicken; it... More

Dear Gurujay, we are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the picnic experience at The Rumbullion. The Rumbullion is a different restaurant to The Roundhouse, which offers offers evening fine dining only. Perhaps you thought you would be having lunch at The Roundhouse? We see that you visited more than a month ago, but would still kindly... More

Had the eggs benedict, which were the best I had in South Africa, good hollandaise. Another of our party had the scrambled eggs, which looked terrific and she pronounced very good. Smart, friendly, alert service and a lovely view. Quite quiet when we were there, but there were a couple of parties and it looks like a good venue for... More

I supose with huge corporate crowd both waiters and kitchen will be on top form. Nevertheless, service was fantastic from the time I articled valet parking to consistently checking my glass. Food was awesome. not sure if I will take my family as no notice stuff for kids . Regardless rave reviews from myself and coleugues.

This restaurant is the worst place I have ever been in my life. My family and I had booked a table for four 2 months before. It was confirmed, reconfirmed and, once more, reconfirmed once we arrived in Cape Town. So you might imagine how we felt when, later that night, the manager told us we had to wait. Not... More

First impressions were great! driving down we were concerned we would be unable to park, but there were some reserved spots for people who had booked to eat dinner. Car door was opened for us (always a good sign!) and we were shown to an outside table where we could enjoy a drink in the sunshine watching the sunset, it... More

Seems some people are lucky. We went a year ago and it was a very pleasant experience, this time hopeless. On arrival at 4.30 pm we were asked if we had booked. We hadn't. Told they were full, although only one other table was occupied. Then said we could sit at the far end of the garden. As soon as... More

A truly fabulous restaurant! We came in on the off chance and were given a warm welcome. I would rate this restaurant as one of the very best in South Africa. Each course was beautifully prepared and every mouthful delicious. The lamb and beef tongue together with the Kingclip are gourmet award winners. The peach soufflé was unique in appearance... More

A fine dining experience set in a colonial building half way down a mountain road towards camps bay beach. As there is a lot of high end eateries in Cape Town, came here on a recommendation, due to it's unusual setting and views. A reservation only establishment where you give your first name so they can print your name on... More
