The menu was very extensive and has a wide variety of African food. We ordered the V&A seafood platter for one between the two of us for lunch, it was a large portion for just one person. It needed to be for the price R490. The fish, mussels and lobster were all over cooked so they lost a lot of... More

Thank you Olidavies for letting us know about your experience at Karibu, we were very disappointed to hear that your V&A Platter for one was to expensive as we do serve 2 x Crayfish, Calamari Deep Fried, Mussels, 3 x Queen prawns and a portion of line fish with a choice of starch, we will most certainly look into this,... The restaurant has a great atmosphere, very lively and interesting decor. During the evening a group of African singers came in which really added to the experience. The menu focuses on African food, particularly from the cape. The food was really good, I had the samosas (which were spicy and authentic) and the Malay beef curry, which was very good.... More

Thank you Frances for taking the time to let us and other TripAdvisor members know about your great experience at Karibu Restaurant, yes, it would be a good idea to book in advance as we are extremely busy and one doesn't want to be disapointed when there is a not so great table or even worse no table at all,... Great view of the V & A and really good quality traditional food served by willing enthusiastic staff. The provision of blankets during the dinner sitting is a welcome touch as it can get cold sitting outside.

My husband is a foodie and he truly enjoyed the game meat platter. He was able to try a variety of game meats from SA. Amazing food

We were pondering over which restaurant to go to when we were taken in hand by the friendly and effusive meeter and greeter, Amelia, who made us feel more than welcome. I had a delicious pickled fish to start, which was a lightly battered fish in a sweet sauce, and a tender lamb shank as a main. All in all... More

We were attracted to this restaurant because they advertised African game dishes. When we asked what meat they were serving for a promotional tray they were offering, they said zebra, warthogs, eland, impala, and crocodile meat. That sounded too wild for us and we decided to try some Cape Malay dishes instead for our dinner. A bit pricey, I must... More

Food was alright but nothing of interest. We had a bottle of wine, it had a cork issue and yet instead of simply issuing a new bottle like any other restaurant in the world. They decanted the wine which could be decanted ($70 AUD). Meant we we paid for a dodgy bottle and whilst the wine was not off, could... More

My experience at Karibu in simple words was just absolutely amazing! Me and a group of my friends visited this establishment and had a blast of a time. Being South African we sometimes take for granted how luckily we are to have so many traditional dishes and Karibu truly depicts this for you from your potties , soups , breedies... More

Found this place hidden in plain sight among many other eateries. Looked at many others but was drawn back. The waiter, Prince, was very friendly and energetic and suggested the specials which were amazing and so far removed from what I'd eat at home. So good was the food and the service, in going to come back JUST to eat... More
