Lovely traditional dinner

I took my well-travelled stepsister and husband from Berlin to Aubergine in April. It was as I remembered it: very nice setting and atmosphere, quite busy but not too noisy, attentive staff and most of all delicious food, well prepared, beautifully presented. The only small criticsm I would have... read more

We had a nice evening although we felt it was a bit overrated for the food quality. Please do not get me wrong the dishes were quite creative and different to your average restaurant which we enjoyed but the taste somewhat not always worked for us and the service was very slow we were at this restaurant for 3 hours.... Whether you love or hate this restaurant, it has a stellar wine list by South African standards! I had an excellent dinner here with friends. The service was prompt, the food excellent and the wine superb - I will definitely return in the near future.

The place was nice, food ok. Service they were welcoming and nice but it took them more than one hour between first and main.... Forever It's a shame because I will never come back or recommend it..., We where celebrating a birthday and left without dessert because it took forever.

Seven of us went for dinner and all of us were highly delighted with the experience there was only praise for the outstanding food wine and service. The seafood chowder, Chalmar beef, venison, tuna Tuna Tataki, tomato risotto dishes were all raved about as was the trio of creme brulee. All in all a superb meal with some truly outstanding... I'd been meaning go to try this estblisment for years! I'll start by saying that it's not in the best location in CT, in a converted house with multi levels and rooms, certainly not suitable for the Disabled! The welcome received from the pompous wine waiter was probably the worst I've ever received, and this was because we had taken... More

Have visited Aubergine on several previous visits to Cape Town - and indeed have largely enjoyed the experience. On this occasion the menu was difficult to choose from - not the restaurant's fault - but I ended up having tomato and burrata to start which was extraordinarily tasteless and presentation was perfunctory. Nevermind - better luck with main course -... More

In an historic Cape Town town house Chef Harald serves innovative and delicious food Asian inflected employing local ingredients. The service was excellent and the sommelier well versed on SA wines suggesting a smashup shirazz. An amouse of seared tuna with salad precedes an interesting starter of a rice cone filled with ratatouille style vegetables on a daikon salad. The... More

We cut short our evening at Aubergine after the main course. having visited Cape Town every year for the last twenty years this was the worst fine dining experience we have encountered. The demeanour of the man who greeted us on arrival was less than welcoming, We later found out that he was in fact the manager. We were given... More

What a fabulous night out. From the moment we arrived until we were the last to leave, and never once rushed, this was an evening of pure pleasure. The service is friendly yet highly professional and knowledgeable. The sommelier was welcoming of our less than expert questioning and delivered some excellent wines,. Then there is the food... Delicately and beautifully... More
