Staff need to up their game

We ate at the Calabash on 05 July 2015. We were a party of 8 adults. Firstly, we booked a table for 18h30 only to get there and find that no table was set up. So we had to stand around and wait for something that should have been done. Due to our large number and the fact that a... read more

We visited with friends and we all enjoyed it very much. The variety this time was even better and the food tasted really good. It was a little bit cold outside but they put up gas heaters all over and it added to a great atmosphere. I will definitely recommend the Calabash for everybody that love to eat buffet dinner.

We decided to try The Calabash as it promised an African Buffet. Unfortunately we made the mistake of going on a busy Friday night. The lines were long, the food was average at best and it was (comparatively) very expensive. I also could not tell if there was anything African about it. It was just a regular multi-cultural buffet. I... More

The food was very tasty, but at that price they can give a bit bigger variety. The sushi was very basic and they did not even had sushi mayo when I asked for it. But I really enjoyed the food, especially the stirfry and brinjal dish they had. Most of the staff were friendly (except one) Unfortunately they were also... More

BUFFET Dinner at The Calabash: Fantastic! The service was great, the staff could not do more to impress and the food was tasty. Do remember to book in advance as this is a very popular restaurant…probably because of the great variety and the very reasonable price. The Calabash offered some traditional South African food like: “bobotie”, “pap” and the traditional... More

We were booked to have dinner here by our tour operator. According to Sun International's website: "The Calabash offers patrons a traditional South African dining experience, with an African buffet presenting all of the best of Africa’s cuisine. It is a treat for your palate and your pocket." I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a really traditional... More

We paid R190 for the buffet as it was during promotion period The food was okay not amazingly fantastic and the photo on the brochure can be slightly deceiving The staffs were all very rude The front desk staff encourage us to go to have a look at what's serving at the buffet as we were hesitating to go in... The Calabash use to be the top restaurant to eat at but no longer. One now pays for the buffet meal, prior to being seated and a separate bill for drinks is paid for at the end of the meal. I wonder, is this to avoid potential refusal of payment for the awful food and service provided afterwards? The ambiance... More

Been in every restaurant in Sun City but never tried the Calabash before so this time eleven of us thought we'd give it a try, unfortunately we never asked the price & there are no signs or menu's anywhere stating the price either, food was ok at best, which in Sun City or in fact anywhere in South Africa is...
