Description: Since 2002 hundreds of coffee devotees have trooped through the Lemon Tree...
Since 2002 hundreds of coffee devotees have trooped through the Lemon Tree doors every day to enjoy the amazing cappuccino. For the second time in three years a survey of around 350 restaurants in KwaZulu-Natal rated LEMON TREE’s cappuccino one of the province’s 20 BEST. This accolade was achieved in the definitive 2010/11 and 2012/13 Sunday Tribune Cafe Society Awards. The international hospitality monitor, TripAdvisor recognised Lemon Tree Bistro with its 2013 Certificate of Excellence. This prestigious award places the restaurant in the top-performing 10% of all businesses worldwide on TripAdvisor, and indicates businesses that consistently earn high ratings from TripAdvisor travellers. The hospitality and catering team, guided by owners Huck and Elsabe Orban, has taken what was essentially a coffee shop with a Continental slant to the level where it is one of the best recognised country restaurants in South Africa. Not only is it listed on several international country travel guides as a "Must Visit!" - amongst which the popular Lonely Planet - but it also serves as destination for both foodies and coffee aficionados. Its easy-dining, bistro menu to which special features like Venison Pie, de-boned Rainbow Trout, the incomparable Kudu Fillet and the famous pistachio-crusted Lamb Cutlets have been added, ensures that everyone's taste from essential to eclectic, is catered for. Besides the crisp croissants, baked on the premises every day, the Lemon Tree will serve you the most memorable Prawn Pasta, Prego Roll and hand crafted Toasted Sandwich you have ever had. Finish that off with the oh-so-moreish Beetroot Cake and a cappuccino and you'll be back for more.... time and again. When you walk through the door you enter the Lemon Tree's wonderful world of goodies... an interesting selection of books - both old and new, a range of branded and house coffees, brewing and cookery requisites and a deli filled with a delightful range of wines, imported biscuits, chocolates, jams and condiments. See you there...

Once again a wonderful stop and a lovely lunch. Tasty, hearty lentil soup with health bread hit the spot on this chilly autumn afternoon. Service really good and a friendly environment just to relax in a rather busy end-of-month Underberg. A definite recommendation if you in the area!

Your fabulous review of our little bistro, Whctree, especially as a senior and seasoned reviewer, means a great deal to us. The fact that you said, "once again", would suggest that this was not your first visit. So, thank you for your multiple visits and for electing to award us full marks. The discovery of a scenic, sometimes spectacular country... More

Different and great and it is by far the best coffee shop in Underberg with home made bread and fresh coffee. Not to be missed when in Underberg

Stop for breakfast and a hot cup of coffee as it was quite a cold morning. One of the best cappuccinos I had in a long time. Friendly staff will let you feel welcome. Nice and clean restaurant. Food is very nice and generous portion. Will stop here again anytime

The one word that did it for you, has done it for us... Excellent! Thank you very much, Izakej, for taking time out to have breakfast with us. And we love it even more when you happen to be a lover of good coffee. Because then we know, you're our kind of guy. Our staff interact fabulously with happy people... More

Lovely people! We came here to fine food outside the hotel and we won! Service was prompt and friendly. Food while a bit pricey was super yummy.

What a fabulous headline, Matt C. Believe me, running a restaurant under the testing conditions of a power outage is no joke. But you stuck with us... Candlelight and no background music isn't so bad, after all. As long as the food is good and the effort to get it to your table uninterrupted. Sorry about the price of the... More

We stopped on the way to the Sani Pass, and then again on the way back. Despite the power being out temporarily due to South Africa's current load shedding policy we were made very welcome and a light breakfast was very enjoyable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We were in a hurry and stopped for a quick sandwich. That was our mistake. It was a fair wait but very well worth it. The meal was fantastic. I have never found such amazing flavour in a sandwich.

Thank you Carolynn C for your review. I am convinced that the restaurateurs and eateries in Maynooth and elsewhere in Ireland make absolutely scrumptious sandwiches. So, for ours to be rated, the best ever is truly a a feather in our cap. Apologies for the slight delay in getting the food to you, but at least we left you with... More

The food was well worth the wait. Service is a bit slow, even for a cup of coffee. BUT, when the sandwiches arrived they where well worth the wait. Delicious and very generous portion with nice touches - homemade mayonnaise used. Would recommend

Thank you ever so much DC1200 for finding parking in the crowded parking lot and making time to dine with us. I am enamoured to learn that the somewhat tardy service did not spoil your dining experience. The handmade seed bread and mayonnaise do indeed elevate the sandwiches above the ordinary and we are thankful that diners like you, who... More
