Good food

We had dinner there. The ribs were great, the lamb curry was delicious, but was disappointed with the amount of bones in the curry. The veal was nothing to rave about.

If a restaurant is still in business after forty years, you just know they must be doing it right! My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of having dinner on Wednesday, 8 April 2015 at Lord Prawn during our holiday in Umhlanga Rocks. We go to Umhlanga every year for the past ten years and not once did we... More

This was a repeat visit after many years absence. The ambiance was as we remembered it - complete with Beatles background music. Prawns were properly cooked but presentation was lacking and we did not feel the offerings were good value. A number of guests, including ourselves, had trouble with card payment due, apparently, to poor communications - this needs to... More

Good food that comes quickly. The seafood does not smell fishy & seems fresh. For starters had the calamari , mussel pot. Mains had the linefish. Recommendable. The only negative is its priced more on the fine dining range but the atmosphere is loud & the restaurant is vert small & gets very crowded. The service is good but everyone... More

I visited Durban for the weekend. We are from Cape Town and only had two opportunities to have romantic dinners. Lord Prawn was an absolute pleasure to go to. The food was fantastic, the service was prompt and extremely friendly, the setting and ambiance is what made it really romantic. It is one of the warmest and quaint restaurants I... More

Their service could be improved by ten fold and worst of all the tip is automatically included on the bill...which proves how much their service needs to improve coz they are scared their waiters wouldn't get a tip due to sub standard service.

I must have passed this restaurant a 100times or more, but it never really looked to inviting from the outside. We decided to have dinner there after our neighbor recommended it to us. We were very pleasantly surprised. Reasonable prices and very fresh prawns. I cannot really comment on any other dish, but my hubby had 1kg of Queen prawns... More

Popped over for supper. My wife and I had Queen size prawns , which was delicious, one of the kids had Spare ribs, which he liked and the other one had Schnitzel, and according to him had to much crumbs. The service was not to bad, but can be sharpened up, taking into consideration the venue was full. All in... More

This is obviously a popular place. Crowded on a Thursday night. We had curries, one prawn and one lamb and the were both very good. Nothing to complain about. It's an OK place but nothing special.

Had the calamari and prawn combo, was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. Would recommend this place highly, definitely worth a visit while in Umhlanga.
