Good food spoilt by some very slow service

there are quite a few of those restaurants in durban . ferrari symbols, soccer club flags and music from the 50-60s. other than that the menus have N spelling mistakes and the food is not italian. the spatchcock chicken was not bad but portuguese, the "italian " antipasti was very poor

We arrived hoping for a good Italian meal because we had read such good reviews. The restaurant was very full and we were greeted promptly by a waiterwe. We were shown to a table and soon ordered starters and it was all down hill from there. The starters took adout fourty minutes to arrive but were under-cooked. Three of the... More

First time visit to this establishment, a not too busy weekday evening. Waiter service was superb. The food was exceptional. My friend and I ordered a salad with pears and cheese, and a pasta dish with chicken livers, which we wanted to share. The only fault I could find was that kitchen staff couldn't bring themselves to split the pasta... More

Have been twice & enjoyed it immensely both times. They have a good range of vegetarian dishes with gorgonzola in every which way. My dad had a problem with his main course the 2nd time we went but they offered to replace it & didn't charge us for it. We didn't replace it but instead shared my main (mushroom risotto)... More

The staff were very stressed out when we arrived with the lady I'm guessing the owner creating a stressed out feeling. As the evening progressed everyone relaxed and every one started enjoying the night. The food is excellent and the service was good except when payment time came around, totally disorganized, pity you are unable to process payments a little... More

We ordered meat balls with pasta and chicken Alfreddo at the Mad Italian. It took a very long time for the food to arrive which was OK except that the waitress didn't bring the flat bread until just a minute before the main courses. They were supposed to fill the gap before arrival of the main courses. The food was... More

My partner and I were doing vegie night and decided it was time we tried The Mad Italian. Arrived to a very full restaurant, which is always a good sign. We ordered the mushroom risotto and the aubergine pasta. Complementary focaccia is served, and i am in heaven already. The scent of roasted garlic and toasted wheat is just sublime.... More
