I've eaten here a few times now, and enjoy the amazing setting, the luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere, top service level from the hosts and waiting staff, and very good food. Although known for its curry buffet, that's not my thing, so I always choose off the menu - can strongly recommend the duck!!! The dessert range is excellent - love... More

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure and privilege to stay at The Oyster Box from 5-7 June 2015. We had the pleasure of having breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Ocean Terrace. On the morning of our arrival we decided to have lunch at the Ocean Terrace. We were warmly welcomed by staff members and shown to a... More

The location is stunning...the staff is friendly. everything else lacks the passion and attention to detail you would expect of a 5 star hotel. The langoustines were drenched in butter and so was everything else on the plate, lemon included. The curries were ok but nothing to remember, the roti and the naan were average. A bit of a let... Just like a moth to a flame, i return to the oyster box restaurants repeatedly primarily for the excellent curry buffet or just choosing of the menu, its great food , remarkable service and beautiful surroundings.

We had previously had the curry buffet and it was superb so we decided to go again and it was the exact opposite absolutely vile. The food was all cold, the tandoori chicken was so hard I got hiccups from trying to swallow it, the prawn and chicken curry had no prawns. It was a very expensive horrible meal and... More

During our stay at the Oyster Box Hotel, we had dinner at the hotel's The Ocean Terrace restaurant. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were given the option to sit on the terrace next to the ocean, or be seated inside. It was a beautiful June evening in Durban, so we opted for the outside terrace. As the... More

What a stunning place to have morning coffee. You go back old fashioned service and high standards and you feel like a millionaire when you visit the Oyster Box. It is fabulous. Sit out on the terrace and watch the view, both the scenery and the guests. The food is exquisite too and with the high exchange rate for the... More

Because we had not booked(it was out of season) we were not told about the curry buffet - our drinks took 10 minutes in fact the second order was forgotten about. I ordered the prawns with - and this the waiter made a note of - garlic butter on them - no sign or smell of garlic. My husband ordered... More

I have visited the ocean terrace a few times over the past two months and have been very impressed every time. As I myself am a chef, I am very fussy when it comes to food, so take my word on it when i say simeting is good. For a delicious light starter try the deep fried camembert, served with... More
