It has been quite some time since I have had such a warm, memorable experience such as this. We were in Durban (the first time) for the weekend and had every meal bar one at the "Oyster Box". (We were staying else where.) This hotel is a real gem and unique in so many ways. Starting on a Friday night... More

The curry buffet was outstanding! 11 different kinds of curries to choose from. The waiters were very attentive and the view of the ocean is great. A must visit.

Stopped in for a lunch and was very impressed. The hotel is amazing. We ate out on the terrace and had a wonderful meal overlooking the pool and the ocean. The food and the service was outstanding. After your meal you can take walk down on the beach walk. The brick oven pizza and curry items are both excellent choices.

After reading all the great reviews there's nothing much I can add, The Oyster Box Hotel is a must on your list of hotels to stay in when in Durban. The one small complaint is that the WI-FI is capped but this does not stop me from giving them 5 stars.

We had dinner on the terrace in the early evening. The views are spectacular and the location is difficult to beat. The chairs outside are not very comfortable, but we moved inside after dinner and listened to some great live music over coffee. The meal was very good without being exceptional, particularly as the prices are on the high side.... More

Went there simply to "have been". Ordered a cheese platter to share with my husband for "the experience". Unexpectedly the best value for money ever - we could not finish the plate between the two of us! A wonderful variety of cheeses, breads, crackers, fruit, nuts and preserves. Beautifully presented. Could not finish it - and we can eat!

After the major refurbishing the  Oyster Box has emerged as a place to be seen and or to be seen with the Umhlanga  set. Taking a friend who had never been, we went. The imposing colonial uniforms of the greeters and the porters transport one to another time. A blend of the last outpost of the empire and Raj leave... More

The curry buffet is unique and it's a must to try. It is geared towards foreign tourist as their Vindaloo was very mild for local taste. They should offer a really hot curry for locals who have the stomachs for it.

I was treated to breakfast at the Oyster Box on a Sunday morning. This was the best spoil I have had in a very long time. There is not one thing I can fault. The food, food presentation, ambiance and service were excellent. It was a beautiful day and we saw dolphins swimming by which was the cherry on the... More
