I skipped the prawns and went for fish and a separate salad. Not exceptional, Fish was OK, but very moderate, the fries were moderate as well. The staff was moderate. The salad was simply putting some salad, cucumber, tomatoes and three olives put on a plate, so less than moderate.Perhaps the restaurant deserves a second chance... One thing, the check... More

Im underwhelmed. If you are not too fussy about the interior nor the view of the restaurant, looks out onto indoor soccer courts...... If you are not too fussy about how the food tastes then this is your spot. Its that typical portuguese place with too much lighting and zero ambience. Not for me, but was full so must be... More

Having enjoyed Julio's Flaming Wok PRAWNS, the best in Durban by far, on a number of occasions, I decided to introduce my son's extremely well traveled Swiss Dad to the restaurant during his recent visit, and he too was blown away, and insisted that the 3 of us return twice again during the month that he was here. YES! The... More

Part of review published in The Mercury on December 14, 2013 Well, back home and with nothing in the fridge to cook, I took mother to Julio’s for a quick bite. Here we talk about simple good value of a different sort. There isn’t a main course over R100, unless you talking about a seafood platter that is. Goodness Sikhosana... More

Very casual Portuguese type restaurant. Service was very friendly and attentive with a personal touch. From starters through to dessert food was exceptional. Chicken liver starter was delicious as were the prawns. Very good value for money.

Visited Durban and were treated to dinner at Julio's. Good food, great prices and a buzzing atmosphere.

We made a reservation last night , when we got there there were two empty tables inside and since it was raining and cold we asked if we could sit inside as opposed to the outside where they allocated us. We were told the tables were reserved even though the restaurant was not very busy so we graciously sat outside.... More

If you feel like really good Portuguese style food at really good prices and you don't mind too much about decor - this is the place to go - don't expect white linen table cloths and crystal - the food is consistently good - which is why this restaurant is a local favourite.

This place has been around forever, they do probably one of the best peri peri chickens and calamari to die for. Lamb shanks and Eisbeins (when you lucky enough to be in time to grab them) are also out of this world. With warm friendly staff and a wonderful hands on owner, one is always made to feel part of...
