We have been dining at this restaurant for years now, just about every weekend sometimes 2 to 3 times in a weekend. Authentic Greek cuisine at its best, we have never ever been disappointed with a meal there it is always awesome, tasty, well presented and so well priced. A great variety to choose from. (I have quite a few... More

My husband and I live in Zimbabwe but over the last year or so have stayed at Emperor's Palace on a few occasions whilst attending seminars there. The Platia Greek restaurant in the Emperor's Palace complex is one of our favourites offering good Greek cuisine and a relaxed casual atmosphere. I have very fond memories of a group of us... More

I was browsing the internet and came about this website and typed in the name of my favorite restaurant on the east rand and was shocked at the review by Glennz. I have to strongly disagree with the comments that was made about the ''bossy, over powering, rude.....owner". Platia is a fantastic restaurant with pleasant friendly staff and management, not to mention... More

If you're looking for a place that is ruined by a bossy, over powering, out of line, rude, nosy and inconsiderate owner...then this is your place! Upon arrival, we were slightly surprised to see only 2 other tables in this large restaurant, but the events that followed meant this all made sense very quickly. We were seated at our table... In a week where cultural misunderstanding seems to be on the global news forefront, ours seems to be just another case in point; and you don’t need to have watched “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” to know how important family is in the Greek culture. The “owner” you refer to is actually my mom. I am the owner and my... More

Dissapointed. Signature lamb shank..tasteless. Veg platter..deep fried. Our waitress was great, but that didn't stop the others taking condiments off our table for the other tables in a sparsely populated restaurant. Fish was good. Steak was good. Sauce was nice.

Although the restaurant looked average from the outside, the food was everything but that. The service a bit slow, but friendly staff. Try the Greek dishes on the menu. It is superb. I will definitely have dinner there when I visit in future.

My wife and I stayed at the D'oreale Grande Hotel for our wedding anniversary in March 2013 where we normally have dinner at their excellent Aurelia’s Restaurant. After being informed that this restaurant was fully booked we decided on dining at Platia Restaurant. This turned out a reasonable good choice as it was a total different experience to the regular... Very nice setting at Platia. I'm a bit over the breaking plates as they don't do that in Greece for decades now. They try to dance around the tables a bit, but that gets a bit cramped... Waiter was very friendly... We ordered only meze plates. They should have had a bigger meze selection (dolmathakia, egg plant, sardines, loukaniko) for... More
