We had breakfast and dinner here while staying at the Saxon for the weekend. The breakfast selection is lavish (although I have had Sunday brunch here in the past and that takes the cake) and you linger at the restaurant just to savour the tastes and the gorgeous room. The dinner menu is an all-rounder and the food did not... More

My boyfriend took me to the Qunu at the Saxon for our anniversary and it was such a amazing experience. It was romantic and really classy! The service was of a high standard and the food was delicious! The atmosphere was lovely with a pianist playing the piano whilst we enjoyed our meals. The fact that it is at the... More

This was our first visit to Qunu for the Sunday brunch, and it certainly won't be the last. The cold buffet was outstanding and, being the fish lover that I am, I was overjoyed at the selection of crayfish tails, oysters, salmon, etc that was available. I didn't even make it for the remaining pastries, quiches, cold meats and cheeses... More

We visited for lunch on a warm Johannesburg summer day. We specifically wanted to have lunch somewhere outside, so we booked on the Terrace. From the moment you arrive, you're transported to a world of wonder and opulence. The security guards at the gate had a note of our booking. Once we parked our car, our chauffeur was ready to... We started our two week trip of South Africa at Qunu, and we weren't let down at all. It was superb, and we got great service (which isn't a given in South African we were to find out over the next few weeks!). The food was spot on, as were the wine recommendations. It comes highly recommended from us, and... More

We have done the famous Sunday brunches here many times (incredible!), this time we just had a small meal for lunch on the terrace, lamb kofta and sticky pork ribs. Again, it was exceptional and not expensive. This hotel remains a very special place, the waiters are kind and well-trained as well.

Go for the scenery, not the service or the food. Spent a lazy morning with my team in tranquil surroundings. The service was slow and patchy - some orders, like water, did not arrive. Lovely speciality menu option, but the breakfast buffet left much to be desired.

I keep coming for meals at The Saxon hoping for I suppose a miracle. I have yet to dine at 500, which I believe serves incredible food (will believe it when I have been), but as for the food at The Terrace, to say it is average is being rather generous. The burger was dry, fries were cold and just... More

Dear Itumeleng, Thank you for your review and please accept our sincerest apologies for the Saxon not living up to your expectations on the day. We are sorry to hear that on each occasion you have visited the hotel, that your dining experience was not to your expectations. This is certainly not the standard we adhere to and we strive... If you want a once in a lifetime experience go to this restaurant! Everything is beautiful about it, the atmosphere, the waiters and especially the food!! They say all the good things in life comes with a price and this is definitely one of them but you won't be disappointed!
