The food was amazing

The food was very well prepared especially their "taster Board selection". Also the service was very quick and efficient. They allow you to bring your own wine for a reasonable corkage fee.

I think they're only open for breakfast Friday to Sunday, but it's well worth making your way there on one of those days. I think most people don't even know it's open, but head instead towards Tasha's nearby which is thronging. Change your ways - you'll get a far better meal at a top notch restaurant for a very reasonable... More

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the Johannesburg area. The food is always great. I can highly recommend the calamari starter, and the three course tasting platters are generally excellent. The wine list is actually a big wine rack in the back of the restaurant, where you simply go and pick your bottle. The service is friendly... More

This was our third or fourth visit to Licorish, but the first in about 6 months or so. The venue is bustling as ever, it is situated in a shopping centre so lots of activity. Almost all the tables were busy on a Tuesday night. Our server Basil was especially good, intimate knowledge of the menu and wine list, going... More

Went with best friends whilst on holiday in South Africa. I knew they would chose a great restaurant, but thought perhaps they may compromise since the location is close to where they live!! This restaurant is certainly NO COMPROMISE! It was an absolutely memorable meal and I had the best piece of fillet steak I have eaten in years. My... More

Two of my guests had the tempura scallops, which were very tender but not too flavoursome and the curried salsa I thought somewhat over-powering for such a subtle seafood. I had the salt and pepper calamari, which as at past experiences is very good indeed, but does not need the curried salsa - which appeared as an accompaniment with another... More
