This is a must visit restaurant when in Soweto, Johannesburg. The food is of a traditional African township flavour, and there is outside seating on Vilakazi street, which was home to two Nobel Peace laureates, including Nelson Mandela. Very good food. Neat and clean establishment.

Hello Sakhumzi No other place in Soweto where I can take my guests for an African Food if not at Sakhumzi. The waiters always smiling, good service, good food, good good good. Most of my client always enjoy the food at Sakhumzi. Well done and keep it up Regards Willy Kalala

Expectation on food was not high to start off with. Did however expect a wider pub food variety. Service was slow. Food average. Parking an issue. All in all worth the visit...even if it is only for bragging rights.

Sakhumzi is a Harley rider and a great host. Situated in the iconic Vilikazi street, close to the Hector Petersen Memorial and the Tutu residence, it is worth a visit. Traditional style African food is the specialty and has not disappointed on numerous visits.

We had lunch at this establishment, the food was exceptionally tasty and the ambience was very good. Beers and drinks were ice cold. Waitress wasn't fabulous but the overall experience is well worth a visit. As a South African I loved the idea of being in Soweto, it made me realize how far we have come as a nation.

After visiting the Mandela house and Hector Peterson museum we stopped at Skahumzi for an early lunch. We were welcomed and seated and after having been served our drinks our waiter took us to the buffet to explain the dishes. The salads were delicious if you ask me and the main courses as well as the dessert also very good!... More
