Prawns and Trinchado for the win..

Although the area this restaurant is located in is not great, it was well worth a visit! The service is good, the portion sizes are generous, the food arrived quickly and the vibe was lovely. Portuguese music lightens up the atmosphere and there is a proper smoking section if need be.

Parreirinha has been on my list of must get to Johannesburg restaurants for years, it is set in a historic old building in a part of town that takes some planning to get to. The vibrant interior is in complete contrast to the plain street outside. I used Uber to get to and from the restaurant and would recommend this... More

This is a fantastic Tasca located in one of Johannesburg's more rundown downtown neighbourhoods, set in an edgy street setting with on street parking (for anyone that doesn't know Johannesburg this means that it is genuinely a street, which is highly unusual). As expected for a Tasca it serves simple fresh food in a Portuguese and colonial Portuguese style -... More

We have been going to this restaurant at least three times a year for the last 4 years and never disappoints. Food is always delicious especially the prawns but the vibe is really what makes the restaurant. Always alive with people, great place for celebratory dinners.

Most people in Johannesburg would find the area of Rosettenville quite scary - they should take a taxi here. This is real Mozambican Portuguese food. Most people come for prawns, which remain incredible! They started at R120 for one langoustine when we were there last night, but one get cheaper King or Queen prawns. They also make great chorizo sausages... More

In the fickle Johannesburg food scene with pop-up and pop-out entrants constantly moving with the tides of fashion, certain establishments manage the exact opposite by becoming part of the landscape. Very far from the world of photo-copy franchises this unique landmark manages to throw an ongoing tropical party. The food is Portuguese, mainly of the Mozambican persuasion. So it's prawns... More

This place is my favourite place for seafood. We often visit and recommend it to all our friends. The seafood portions are generous and the flavour is spectacular. Cannot go wrong here. The setup is different and has a nice vibe. The staff are friendly and the service is on point. It really is a welcoming restaurant with excellent food.... More

You will get the best Mozambican prawns here. The vibe is great, friendly service. The area is not ideal, there have been problems with crime, and it is far out. Make sure you do not have stop on the way.

Always a winner, good Portuguese food, great vibe, a great place to meet with friends. Back room is smoking but I find the atmosphere is better there.
