Something very different, worth a visit!

In the fickle Johannesburg food scene with pop-up and pop-out entrants constantly moving with the tides of fashion, certain establishments manage the exact opposite by becoming part of the landscape. Very far from the world of photo-copy franchises this unique landmark manages to throw an ongoing tropical party. The food is Portuguese, mainly of the Mozambican persuasion. So it's prawns... More

This place is my favourite place for seafood. We often visit and recommend it to all our friends. The seafood portions are generous and the flavour is spectacular. Cannot go wrong here. The setup is different and has a nice vibe. The staff are friendly and the service is on point. It really is a welcoming restaurant with excellent food.... More

You will get the best Mozambican prawns here. The vibe is great, friendly service. The area is not ideal, there have been problems with crime, and it is far out. Make sure you do not have stop on the way.

Always a winner, good Portuguese food, great vibe, a great place to meet with friends. Back room is smoking but I find the atmosphere is better there.

back in 1975 I lived in La Rochelle and remember la Parreirinha. We have been there with friends and family on numerous revisits to Johannesburg. Still good honest Mozambique prawns and Portuguese vinho Verde. Atmosphere is hopping Excellent value by. European standards €200 for 12 people

this was recommended to us by locals. It is in a remote part of town and certainly I would suggest that you are delivered and collected by hotel limo. It is a Portuguese restaurant focusing largely on seafood. They have a menu of prawns and crayfish from which to select - all is nicely prepared and generous helpings.Service nice too.... More

We started with an assortment of prawns barbequed to perfection, followed by piri piri baby chicken. All absolutely delicious. Service was warm & friendly with very helpful recommendations and we were shown the variety prawns for us to choose from. Decor is unusual - the ceiling is decorated with ties (hundreds). If you are in Jo'burg don't miss this restaurant.... More

The restaurant is casual and far out but the quality is undeniable. We go back again and again and it just gets better.

Very popular restaurant offering delicious Portuguese food in the South of Johannesburg. The decor is somewhat dated but part of the charm. Parreirinha is renowned for its seafood and with good reason: delicious, fresh and well-prepared (do your mouth and belly a favor and feast on their prawns, I love their rissois de câmerao!). No need to dress up, a... More
