Just went for a quick bite to eat and was blown away by the pizzas! Really nice pub vibe, good selection of brews on tap as well. Great choice for anyone looking for a nice chilled pub vibe or I'm sure quite the party during semester!

The Rat is the quintessential student hangout, loud (aka atmosphere) and busy at student times, like towards the end of the week. A few types of beer on tap, a reasonably extensive menu including burgers, pizza, fish and chips and the like: what you can can find in a pub in any student town. It would be nice if it... More

Bustling pub and restaurant, alive with the student vibe, just down the road from the University. Well established and renowned for its brand of pub grub, this place didn't hesitate to live up to its reputation. I didn't stay too long, but I could see numerous patrons getting comfy for an extended evening of talking and drinking.

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food presented at this pub. Not only that , but the staff were attentive , even though the place was jam packed at Festival time. Congratulations on getting it right !

Went to the pub twice and the last time I got pretty tanked, being treated like a true guest by my South African friends. Cheap beer and a cool Place to be. It was a busy night but no problem getting the drinks. Had food the night Before and i liked the steak a lot.

The Rat & Parrot is a nice pub with excellent food, good service and decently priced drinks. It's a great place to go for a casual lunch with some friends. Unfortunately, in the evening, it becomes a pit of drunk underage teenagers, since the place doesn't seem to check for ID. Additionally, the music is a nostaglia hits playlist that... More

I absolutely loved walking into this pub-restaurant vibe and feeling right at home. No matter if the restaurant is packed or quiet you always feel at ease. I frequent the Rat and Parrot because not only is the atmosphere great but their food has always kept to the same standard and is always delicious. I look forward to my next... More

It's a pub, noisy, crowded and mostly full of drunk students, but if you don't mind the chaos then make sure to order one of their pizzas. Best in town by far.

But I'm not, and I didn't! We were there for a late lunch, and it was VERY noisy with more of a pub atmosphere than a restaurant. The seating is also pub-style with wooden benches that are uncomfortable and not easy to get in/out of. I got the impression that most folk - youngsters really, probably all students - come... More
