Route 66 Diner

We first saw this traditional American Diner when Henry Cole did his bike ride and stopped in. We like the look of the place and stopped when we were in the area 2 years ago. We were close again and decided to go back. What can I say, it is a lovely traditional diner, if you are riding The Route,... read more

Decided to have dinner at Joe & Aggie's in Holbrook. Our waiter was very nice and friendly, but he was the only good thing about our dinner. The chips were stale and literally the small pieces left from the bottom of a bag. The salsa was ridiculously hot and spice, and the tacos I ordered came in pre-formed store-bought shells.... More

Stopped for a sandwich and coffee. The cafe is dirty and cluttered. The tables look like they haven't been cleaned for years and the upholstery on the booths was torn and covered with tape. The carpet was scattered with food and needs to ripped out. The bread on the sandwich was very thin and dry. Coffee was not very good.

Even with an excellent waiter, the atmosphere and the food really disappoint. Our chips (chips and salsa) were from two different batches of bagged chips, and tasted a bit stale. The salsa was too spicy. The tacos are made with pre-packaged taco shells--not the fresh Mexican food we were expecting. The place is dirty and cluttered. The juke box was... More

The "Indian Taco" is great. Their sopapillos are wonderful. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a Route 66 experience. It is an experience.

What can I say. The place has character and not just those that run it. A fantastic stop on route 66. To say it is an icon is no overstatement. The good was delicious with generous portions and low prices. A fun place to go after spending a night in the wigwam hotel.

Had supper here while in Holbrook. Friendly staff who shared town history with us, good food and Route 66 to boot! We had both American and Mexican food and all were pleased with their choices.

Had breakfast here after a night at the Wigwam motel. The pancakes were superb and the missus had a breakfast burrito so large, she took half with her and had it for lunch! Decent portions, good VFM and nice, genuine people running the place. Well worth your patronage.

Few words can express Joe and Aggie's. It was originally a restaurant and a barber shop and now just a restaurant with food and stuff to sell. The waitress was ok. The huevos rancheros had beef in the beans, no fault of the kitchen. The cheese enchilidas were "beyond belief delicious."

We called here on a recent trip around Arizona, we had seen it in programmes and lived up to its reputation. Its decor is authentic and it really feels part of the old road. they do a variety of food and drinks plus sell souvenirs. At some times of the year there is native Indian dancing at the court house... More
