The food, atmosphere, and service was out of this world! If you are ever in Douglas this place is a must!! They do not have a liquor license but you can BYOB.

My husband raved about the cabeza tacos so we decided to have lunch at El Chef. The place is rather small but clean and festive looking. We were given chips and fresh salsa right away. Both were very good. We ordered a quesadilla, beef/chicken burrito, guacamole and some beef tacos. Everything was so fresh and tasted homemade. The small quesadilla... More

Nice informal well decorated restaurant with my favorite Mexican food. Recommend the chimichanga with shredded beef. Most dishes under $10. Good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Friendly efficient service.

We had dinner here this past week while in Douglas in search of Sandhill cranes. Would agree with other reviewers that this is some of the best Mexican food we've had...we are fans of Mexican and New Mexican cuisine. We asked the server for recommendations and had two that she mentioned. The combination plate was outstanding as was the other-... More

Best Mexican food in Arizona yet! I had Joes burro, the carne asada was perfect ! Greasy salty grisly, the absolute best ever. The rest of the burrito was good too. Menu is all in Spanish, servers spoke English fine. Full of locals, great ambiance.

Family owned and operated for 17 years. Fabulous, home- cooked Mexican food prepared by people who know what they are doing and care about serving great food. We had a wonderful dinner and went back for breakfast the next day-- both meals were fantastic. Worth a trip to Douglas to eat there.

Simple menu and great soups. Excellent coffee too. The burritos are really really good. The salsa is home made too. It is also one of the few restaurants in Douglas that has very prompt service.

Their food is always fresh, and the taste is very original. Not your typical mexican boring always-the-same taste. Menudo is an A+. The Joe Style Burrito is the best carne asada gem I've eaten. A must if you are in Douglas. Greetings from Yuma!

Nice family environment. Good food, nice sized portions. Recommended by a local, and not disappointed with the meal. Decor seemed a bit plastic, but was not bad. I had the cheese enchiladas with green chili sauce.
