In the 1930s, a man with the unlikely name of Johnny Walker built a bar called the Cave Creek Corral. Walker’s creation was an instant sensation with cowboys, playboys, politicians and laborers who gathered to drink A-1 beers at wooden tables under wanted posters.Harold Gavagan and his wife Ruth bought the Cave Creek Corral in the mid 1950s. Harold was quite a character, a depression-era Irish kid, a tough, but entertaining guy. Harold’s was a favorite movie location for Hollywood, attracting the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Bob Hope, Lynda Carter, Waylon Jennings and Dick Van Dyke. Cave Creek was not a short easy ride from Phoenix, in an effort to get visitors to Cave Creek, Harold acquired a trained lion and tiger act to entertain patrons.Once visitors were at Harold’s, he was concerned that they didn’t drink and stay long enough. So the building to the east of the restaurant became a bunkhouse, renting space for over night visitors.celebrities. Enjoy the fun atmosphere, interesting people and great food every day. Lively Landmark Bar/Restaurant

A Pittsburgh Steelers stronghold in the Old West. Good selection of beers and somewhat standard bar foods (good bar foods). Entertainment some nights. Competes for fans with Buffalo Chip next door. Good vibes.

Harold's Cave Creek Corral is celebrating its 80th birthday this year. And there is a reason why. Locals love to hang here and tourists to the Cave Creek area like to come because this is where the locals are! Cool western ambiance, with an antique bar running along one side and hundreds of old cowboys boots hanging from the walls---you'll... More

We used to go here a lot, but in time, just didn't care for the atmosphere, or the food. One of the servers was also very blunt. We actually like to rotate our visits for breakfast, so maybe its time for another look. I hear the owner is generous, giving back to the community for various events, so I really... More

We stopped here recently for a real cowboy style dinner (pulled pork was on our minds). we ordered margaritas to start and looked at the menu. our margaritas were not good at all. very bland & nothing special. we find most Cave Creek restaurants have some kind of signature margarita. Not here. anyway, we reviewed the menu which has an... More

This stop was for breakfast / brunch. Adults had Southwest Benedict, Waffles and a Chicken Chili Omelette. Kids had pancakes with fruit and a side of yummy bacon. All great meals. Service was fast and friendly.A MUST visit for any time of the day.

Thir landmark has been serving the greater Phoenix diners for 80 years. It's a great fun family atmosphere that has great consistent reasonably priced food. Harold's has an extensive menu, and it's all really delicious!!!

Whenever we are in AZ we MUST go to Harold's. The spinach salad is awesome and their carrot cake is the only time my wife will eat cake!

We walked into this Steeler (yes Pittsburgh in Arizona) Country Bar and did not know what to expect. We had excellent burgers, barbequed beef sandwiches and taco salads. Great cold beers on tap. Seemed like a great place to watch live bands as the stage was set up for what seemed like a major country act. Leather cowboy/cowgirl boots were... More

Every Sunday during football season Harold's is a hangout for displaced Steeler fans living in Arizona. Game day drink specials, music, big screen TV's, outdoor seating with televisions. Pre game breakfast buffet is always quick and easy. The menu includes several great options and the food is always good. Reservations are recommended especially on Sunday. Great place year round!
