Description: In the 1930s, a man with the unlikely name of Johnny Walker built a bar called the Cave Creek Corral. Walker’s creation was an instant sensation with cowboys, playboys, politicians and laborers who gathered to drink A-1 beers at wooden tables under wanted posters.Harold Gavagan and his wife Ruth bought the Cave Creek Corral in the mid 1950s. Harold was quite a character, a depression-era Irish kid, a tough, but entertaining guy. Harold’s was a favorite movie location for Hollywood, attracting the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Bob Hope, Lynda Carter, Waylon Jennings and Dick Van Dyke. Cave Creek was not a short easy ride from Phoenix, in an effort to get visitors to Cave Creek, Harold acquired a trained lion and tiger act to entertain patrons.Once visitors were at Harold’s, he was concerned that they didn’t drink and stay long enough. So the building to the east of the restaurant became a bunkhouse, renting space for over night visitors.celebrities. Enjoy the fun atmosphere, interesting people and great food every day. We feature live country and western music Thursday-Sunday nights.Take a few minutes to browse the photographs on the walls of the characters and friends that frequent Harold’s. I go here to watch my Seahawks sometimes on Sundays. As long as the Steelers aren't playing the same time they'll put my game on for me. I usually set in or at the bar. The food is actually really good. I've had great servers and some not so great, but usually everyone is very friendly and pleasant.

Rustic restaurant, with a distinct cowboy atmosphere. Clientele also partly cowboys. Dancing available and live music. Good steaks and BBQ ribs. Large servings - you won't go away hungry ! Easy to find, on the main street in Cave Creek. Open for all meals, 7 days a week

We spent last Sunday with 400 Steelers fans in the largest bar of it's kind that we've seen. They play all the old and new Steelers songs and when we get a touchdown, some guy runs around the bar with a Steelers flag. The food is standard bar food but it's good and they even have some Pittsburgh standards like... More

Enjoyed a nice dinner outdoors at Harold's. However, the music was a bit disappointing. While they did play some C&W music, they also played pop, such as Michael Jackson. Had hoped for a more authentic experience. Visiting Cave Creek was fun and you get to see what the town looked like before it got a bit gentrified.

The food was average (my BBQ pork sandwich was a real disappointment), the tea was not very good and the service was just average too.

I was visiting family who live in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and had been to a few bars but was unimpressed. My girlfriends cousin who lives in Cave Creek suggested we should go round there for a change of scenery. We arrived and in a way it was like stepping back in time, there were ranches and cowboys (real ones not... More

This Wild West saloon has been around for over 70 years, so they must be doing something right. Great place to come for a drink (or three) and socialize. Never know who will show up. Rumor has it that Willie Nelson played Harold's one night for free drinks. No one remembers for sure, not even Willie. Come for the beer..... More

This is a great place! The food was great, had the grilled shrimp tacos and wings. If you are from Pittsburgh or a Steeler fan (or any Pittsburgh sports team fan) you MUST go here. It was September and the Pirates were playing. There was no where in Phoenix that we could watch the game but it was on in... More

My friend and I recently ended up at Harold's on a Saturday night after dinner at Cartwright's. We are two ladies that used to rip it up on the dance floor... Like 20 years ago. We were a tiny bit lit up from drinks at dinner so barely indulged at Harold's... The dance floor on the other hand saw some... More
