Description: In the 1930s, a man with the unlikely name of Johnny Walker built a bar called the Cave Creek Corral. Walker’s creation was an instant sensation with cowboys, playboys, politicians and laborers who gathered to drink A-1 beers at wooden tables under wanted posters.Harold Gavagan and his wife Ruth bought the Cave Creek Corral in the mid 1950s. Harold was quite a character, a depression-era Irish kid, a tough, but entertaining guy. Harold’s was a favorite movie location for Hollywood, attracting the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Bob Hope, Lynda Carter, Waylon Jennings and Dick Van Dyke. Cave Creek was not a short easy ride from Phoenix, in an effort to get visitors to Cave Creek, Harold acquired a trained lion and tiger act to entertain patrons.Once visitors were at Harold’s, he was concerned that they didn’t drink and stay long enough. So the building to the east of the restaurant became a bunkhouse, renting space for over night visitors.celebrities. Enjoy the fun atmosphere, interesting people and great food every day. We feature live country and western music Thursday-Sunday nights.Take a few minutes to browse the photographs on the walls of the characters and friends that frequent Harold’s. Went there this evening. Not good food. Not good service. Saw our waitress 4 times: once to place the order; had to stop her to ask for a refill of tea; had to ask for the check. Never was asked about the food. I had the Vegetarian Pasta. I also had the French Onion Soup. It really shoud have been... More

Stopped off for lunch so no live music. Not a bad place overall. Sitting was not comfortable - open floors, round tables wooden seats. I had the fish the chips (Fish on a Dish). The cod was better than expected as were the fries. My wife had the mussels which she seemed to enjoy however she paid for a dozen... More

We live nearby, and thought when a family member who is a Steeler's fan came to town, it would be a fun lunch. Maybe you have to be here for a game, when you can't see the place for the people, but the food was not great, and the atmosphere at lunch was...well odd. If you are looking for a... More

We stopped at this place for drinks in our way to the hotel while visiting Scottsdale. It´s a huge place, very informal and decorated with cowboy motives, especially cowboy boots. There are many of them all hanging from the ceiling. White and red checkered table cloths over the tables, TVs showing baseball games and country music completed the environment clearly... More

Loved the food, music, and company. It was a great place to hang out and have fun. There were times that the place got a little crowded, but it was still way fun.

Go with the fish tacos! Would not have expected that a fish taco could be so good at Harold's. 3 mini fried tacos..plenty of fish covered in slaw with a fantastic sauce to pour over or dip into. Comes with rice and beans...I opted out of those to be a bit more healthy...ordered the sweet potato fries :) yum. I... More

We've come here for years either tf dinner or just drinks. The happy hour is excellent! Great choices and very cheap! They we take advantage of the reverse happy hour. The bartenders are great. They have live music on Somedays which is a bonus.

Met @ Harold's with a group of 11, sat outside. A bit of a hiccup getting seated (need to come in through the front door and be seated, even for the porch seating) and served, but that was quickly resolved. Good service overall, good selection of beers. Had appetizers, typical bar food, but good. Live country band and dancing. We'll... More

Happy hour specials from 2 to 6 can not be beat. Our favorite is the beef ribs for $2.50 along with numerous other items on the happy hour menu. One appetizer I am fond of is the Stuffed Hot Peppers loaded with lots of melted cheese and stuffed with a very flavorful meat. And at happy hour they are 1/2... More
