Description: In the 1930s, a man with the unlikely name of Johnny Walker built a bar called the Cave Creek Corral. Walker’s creation was an instant sensation with cowboys, playboys, politicians and laborers who gathered to drink A-1 beers at wooden tables under wanted posters.Harold Gavagan and his wife Ruth bought the Cave Creek Corral in the mid 1950s. Harold was quite a character, a depression-era Irish kid, a tough, but entertaining guy. Harold’s was a favorite movie location for Hollywood, attracting the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Bob Hope, Lynda Carter, Waylon Jennings and Dick Van Dyke. Cave Creek was not a short easy ride from Phoenix, in an effort to get visitors to Cave Creek, Harold acquired a trained lion and tiger act to entertain patrons.Once visitors were at Harold’s, he was concerned that they didn’t drink and stay long enough. So the building to the east of the restaurant became a bunkhouse, renting space for over night visitors.celebrities. Enjoy the fun atmosphere, interesting people and great food every day. We feature live country and western music Thursday-Sunday nights.Take a few minutes to browse the photographs on the walls of the characters and friends that frequent Harold’s. Go with the fish tacos! Would not have expected that a fish taco could be so good at Harold's. 3 mini fried tacos..plenty of fish covered in slaw with a fantastic sauce to pour over or dip into. Comes with rice and beans...I opted out of those to be a bit more healthy...ordered the sweet potato fries :) yum. I... More

We've come here for years either tf dinner or just drinks. The happy hour is excellent! Great choices and very cheap! They we take advantage of the reverse happy hour. The bartenders are great. They have live music on Somedays which is a bonus.

Met @ Harold's with a group of 11, sat outside. A bit of a hiccup getting seated (need to come in through the front door and be seated, even for the porch seating) and served, but that was quickly resolved. Good service overall, good selection of beers. Had appetizers, typical bar food, but good. Live country band and dancing. We'll... More

Happy hour specials from 2 to 6 can not be beat. Our favorite is the beef ribs for $2.50 along with numerous other items on the happy hour menu. One appetizer I am fond of is the Stuffed Hot Peppers loaded with lots of melted cheese and stuffed with a very flavorful meat. And at happy hour they are 1/2... More

Went to Harolds and was glad I did. Great food and atmosphere especially if your a Steeler fan. I sat at bar and had a great burger and fries. Had an appetizer of wings also very good. Sat at the bar and the server was great. She was a gem and kept me entertained. Stayed longer than I wanted thanks... More

So we had gone to dinner at a friend's house who decided we should all keep trying favorites from their Scotch collection. The next morning I really appreciated my sunglasses and all of us needed a bit of a kick start to our day. The locals in our group took us to Harold's and it really hit the spot! We... More

This is sad. The first time I went to Harold's was in the 70's and there we're live tigers in the back. As a teenager I thought that was the best. We went to dinner here to support the original Cave Creek restaurants and were very disappointed. We went on Tuesday for the rib special. I had the chicken salad,... More

The burger and fries were good, the entertainment... go on a Friday if you want some, any other days is not that exciting.

This is a fun place to go too. The service is great and nice menu and the food not bad. This is a sun time if you like football games all over the place and if you love gold and black this is the place.

Harold's was a very interesting experience. Very, very large restaurant (holds 600). With many different sections (including outdoor bar). Steelers fans will enjoy the enthusiasm (I hear you have to purchase season tickets for seats at the bar during football season). Great sports bar area, family seating area, and dance floor with lessons. Went on a Wednesday because they had... More
