Description: In the 1930s, a man with the unlikely name of Johnny Walker built a bar called the Cave Creek Corral. Walker’s creation was an instant sensation with cowboys, playboys, politicians and laborers who gathered to drink A-1 beers at wooden tables under wanted posters.Harold Gavagan and his wife Ruth bought the Cave Creek Corral in the mid 1950s. Harold was quite a character, a depression-era Irish kid, a tough, but entertaining guy. Harold’s was a favorite movie location for Hollywood, attracting the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Bob Hope, Lynda Carter, Waylon Jennings and Dick Van Dyke. Cave Creek was not a short easy ride from Phoenix, in an effort to get visitors to Cave Creek, Harold acquired a trained lion and tiger act to entertain patrons.Once visitors were at Harold’s, he was concerned that they didn’t drink and stay long enough. So the building to the east of the restaurant became a bunkhouse, renting space for over night visitors.celebrities. Enjoy the fun atmosphere, interesting people and great food every day. We feature live country and western music Thursday-Sunday nights.Take a few minutes to browse the photographs on the walls of the characters and friends that frequent Harold’s. This place is still drawing great crowds. Fun at nights with special events throughout the year. For sports, can't be beat if you are a Steeler's fan. Great beer specials, something that is lacking in many of the area bars.

Met family for breakfast here as it was close to our vacation condo in Cave Creek. Food was just ok, coffee not very good, and we had a crawling bug run across the table. Waitress was friendly and we did have good service. Probably just not a good breakfast choice.

We waited. And waited. And waited for our food. The restaurant was not busy; perhaps the restaurant was short some servers. One of our group ordered baby back ribs. They were cold. Not even warm. COLD. Everyone else's food was find. We'll go back but not for awhile.

Excellent BBQ (I had the beef brisket). Really tasty with lots of tangy sauce. In general the portions are very large and good value for money. The brisket was easily in excess of 1/2 lb of delicious meat. My wife had the fish & chips. At the outset I was skeptical at having fish in the desert, but it looked... More

For years Harold's has been one of the go-to casual restaurants in Cave Creek .. good food or a good price in a casual interesting environment. We're been there twice in the past month and to be blunt the quality of the food has dropped! The fish and chips were oily and soggy, some of the old favorite Mexican dishes... More

I go here to watch my Seahawks sometimes on Sundays. As long as the Steelers aren't playing the same time they'll put my game on for me. I usually set in or at the bar. The food is actually really good. I've had great servers and some not so great, but usually everyone is very friendly and pleasant.

Rustic restaurant, with a distinct cowboy atmosphere. Clientele also partly cowboys. Dancing available and live music. Good steaks and BBQ ribs. Large servings - you won't go away hungry ! Easy to find, on the main street in Cave Creek. Open for all meals, 7 days a week

We spent last Sunday with 400 Steelers fans in the largest bar of it's kind that we've seen. They play all the old and new Steelers songs and when we get a touchdown, some guy runs around the bar with a Steelers flag. The food is standard bar food but it's good and they even have some Pittsburgh standards like... More

Enjoyed a nice dinner outdoors at Harold's. However, the music was a bit disappointing. While they did play some C&W music, they also played pop, such as Michael Jackson. Had hoped for a more authentic experience. Visiting Cave Creek was fun and you get to see what the town looked like before it got a bit gentrified.

The food was average (my BBQ pork sandwich was a real disappointment), the tea was not very good and the service was just average too.
