Description: Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching...
Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching days with rustic yet upscale dining. Located on Saguaro Hill and overlooking Black Mountain and the Sonoran desert foothills, the restaurant’s ambience inside is as captivating as the setting outside. At Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House, a hacienda style dining room, enclosed patio and private wine room boast artistic touches such as straw-packed walls, sandstone and slate accents, woodwork from local mesquite, and a wood-burning fireplace in each room. The interior recalls the original ranch house built by Jackson (Manford) Cartwright in the early 1900s. His father, “Red” Cartwright, was a pioneering cattle rancher in Cave Creek in the late 1800s. The family ranch operated for three generations and more than a century, and is still in use today. Chefs continue this tradition with all-natural meats, including Arizona beef, Colorado range-fed lamb, and North American elk and buffalo slow-cooked over a crackling mesquite wood fire. Also enjoy fresh seafood, house-made bread and desserts, a Wine Spectator Award-winning wine list and fine whiskies, bourbons and Scotches. Cartwright’s is available for private events and off-site catering. Reservations are recommended.

We celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary with dinner at Cartwright's. It has a great ambiance - Old West, comfortable but not too casual. My husband had the Ranch House Trio and I had the trout. They were both SO delicious and cooked absolutely perfectly, as were our starters - the smoked tomato bisque soup and the roasted beet trio. The... More

Good food and service in this decidedly western themed restaurant. Bar scene can be lively. Nice wine selection. On the main drag amongst western and motorcycle bars. More of a sit down, relax and dress up a little type place.

We live locally and I can't believe it took us till now to discover this wonderful restaurant! We love to dine at Tonto Bar and Grill, it's sister restaurant, but never realized that there was another great place to eat in the area. The restaurant is different in that they are known for their game offerings. There is bison, elk,... More

Cartwright's may look like a Southwestern restaurant, but taste is upscale NY. New menu was filled with items, ravioli & scallops, all explained in detail from our waiter Chris H.

The price fix menu was excellent. Atmosphere could not have been better for this unusual snowy night in scottsdale. Roaring fireplace, authentic western art, massive wooden bar. Very reasonably priced.

My wife and I had dinner at Cartwright's on Saturday night, June 13. Being 'offseason' for tourist in the Phoenix/Cave Creek area the restaurant was not elbow to elbow but there was a good flow of some locals and tourist coming and going. Our server was very attentive to out needs and very helpful with all our questions about the... More

Cartwrights is a quieter scene from the rest of the strip. More classy dining. Beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff. I eat steak habitually and I must say, I think that was the best steak I've had. Will be back soon.

Two of us couples happened on this restaurant and were delighted that we had! The atmosphere is fun, the service was outstanding, the food was absolutely delicious and presentation was pleasing. I especially enjoyed the beef tenderloin stroganoff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant!

This is not the place if you are a vegetarian or a vegan. The vast majority of the menu is "meat & potatoes." The pork shoulder was very good, the slab of steak as well as the beef stroganoff. Atmosphere was very good, dark, clean with a very friendly staff. Has an "old west cowboy" theme to it. I found... More
