Description: Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching...
Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching days with rustic yet upscale dining. Located on Saguaro Hill and overlooking Black Mountain and the Sonoran desert foothills, the restaurant’s ambience inside is as captivating as the setting outside. At Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House, a hacienda style dining room, enclosed patio and private wine room boast artistic touches such as straw-packed walls, sandstone and slate accents, woodwork from local mesquite, and a wood-burning fireplace in each room. The interior recalls the original ranch house built by Jackson (Manford) Cartwright in the early 1900s. His father, “Red” Cartwright, was a pioneering cattle rancher in Cave Creek in the late 1800s. The family ranch operated for three generations and more than a century, and is still in use today. Chefs continue this tradition with all-natural meats, including Arizona beef, Colorado range-fed lamb, and North American elk and buffalo slow-cooked over a crackling mesquite wood fire. Also enjoy fresh seafood, house-made bread and desserts, a Wine Spectator Award-winning wine list and fine whiskies, bourbons and Scotches. Cartwright’s is available for private events and off-site catering. Reservations are recommended.

We've heard rumors of 'new, better' things. Our last visit, years ago, brought a dated steakhouse experience... Good for an adequate steak - but nothing exceptional... and we aren't big 'red' meat eaters. So - we hoped for an improved experience - and heard they had oysters @ happy hour. OK!!! And... We found simply one of the worst happy... More

Had not been to this restaurant and decided to go with my husband and son on Valentine's day. The pre-fixed menu was pretty good and the price was even better. Nice ambiance and very cozy. I would more than likely come back with friends.

We ate here our last night in Cave Creek and it was very nice, but not my favorite in Cave Creek. I felt a bit let down as I had the mountain trout and it was just OK...not much taste frankly. The potatoes were luke- warm so the meal as a whole was not that great. It was quite busy... More

very pleasant dining experience. The service was excellent, the food was very good and enjoyed by everyone in or party. We were seated at a nice table, however we requested a change to sit near the fireplace and the staff obliged us without hesitation. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We had heard about this place for ages, but finally went last night. The waiter was charming, but forgot to serve my husband's salad. Still never came after we told both him and the busboy. The appetizer had 3 different sauces, one of which was guacamole. I told the waiter I hated cilantro, and he told me that there was... More

We checked out the menu for Cartwright's and agreed it would be a good place for our final dinner in Cave Creek. It was simple to make on line reservations, a good idea on a Friday night. We were greeted in a welcoming manner and showed promptly to our table. We had reqested a high chair when making reservations and... More

We made reservations (recommended during the busy season). Seated promptly and very friendly waitress was at the table within minutes. A broad menu with many selections and options including bison. The wine list is good and the evening special was great and economical The filets were done perfectly, the supporting veggie, broccoli, was disappointing. Save room for dessert. I would... More

Visited Cartwrights with friends, my friends had a ribeye commented that it was great. I ordered the mahi tacos. They came to me cold and dry. The spice flavor was fabulous. Maybe I should have order the red meat on their menu.

Four adults went here for an upscale dinner of wine, appetizers and steak. The bill was over $100 per person for wine, appetizers and 4-steaks. The atmosphere and service is that of a "ranch house" with casual service (not upscale). I expect this in a small isolated town but not however with these price tags. The oysters were very good...
