Description: Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching...
Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching days with rustic yet upscale dining. Located on Saguaro Hill and overlooking Black Mountain and the Sonoran desert foothills, the restaurant’s ambience inside is as captivating as the setting outside. At Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House, a hacienda style dining room, enclosed patio and private wine room boast artistic touches such as straw-packed walls, sandstone and slate accents, woodwork from local mesquite, and a wood-burning fireplace in each room. The interior recalls the original ranch house built by Jackson (Manford) Cartwright in the early 1900s. His father, “Red” Cartwright, was a pioneering cattle rancher in Cave Creek in the late 1800s. The family ranch operated for three generations and more than a century, and is still in use today. Chefs continue this tradition with all-natural meats, including Arizona beef, Colorado range-fed lamb, and North American elk and buffalo slow-cooked over a crackling mesquite wood fire. Also enjoy fresh seafood, house-made bread and desserts, a Wine Spectator Award-winning wine list and fine whiskies, bourbons and Scotches. Cartwright’s is available for private events and off-site catering. Reservations are recommended.

Hoss was unavailable. So was the service. After reading the glowing reviews, we anticipated great food and service. Instead, we encountered poor service and an inordinate amount time of food delivery from the kitchen to the table. The server never visited the table for drink refills, liquor or soda. The tacos, filled with pork, were devoid of taste. The pork... More

Decided to stop for an early dinner. Lots of people at the bar but not too many diners. Menu was a little thin but the food we got was good. Atmosphere was western/ casual it the waiter was formal dressed as a cowboy. Not sure he fit the scheme. However, he did a good job and was very knowledgeable. This... More

Have dined here before while spending time in Cave Creek and once again we were not disappointed. Bar seating is great for us, so that's where we landed. Ronnie our bartender was fabulous, she knew her drinks and menu and did a great job of helping us pick the perfect entrees. I had the fish special - a white fish... More

Cartwright's has a nice interior atmosphere and the place was pretty packed for a Thursday. There were no seats at the bar so we ordered a drink standing up. The drink was very good and not lacking in alcohol. We sat at a table adjacent to the bar and waited a while to be served. Once we got a server... More

Our first time at Cartwright's in Cave Creek, and a birthday celebration. Cave Creek is always a fun destination. A bit of the old west. Cartwright's has been there forever and the menu explains the history of the place. The food and service is excellent. A bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

This is the first time and my husband's second time eating at Cartright's. From the time we stepped foot into the restaurant and at the time of our exit, we were taking care of. Our server Mike was fabulous, along with the other waitstaff. Not one time did we have to ask for our glasses to be filled or empty... More

char grilled prime rib a real "prime experience". Rich and flavorful and cooked to perfection.zmy steak was broken into three pieces and not the traditional slab. I hate that. Sides mediocre at best. Macaroni salad put on the plate of a trio of starters was laughable and disgusting actually. Seems to be sliding. THe place has been renovated and is... More

I visited the restraunt late December 2014. I ordered the warm canella braised duck, Bourbon braised peaches, smoky Gorgonzola and local pecan crostini. I don't believe... More

My husband had the rib eye and I had the fillet. We were able to select sides from other entrees . I selected the green beans and the quinoa. I was pleased with my selections but probably would have enjoyed the scalloped potatoes more but have to watch what I eat. My husband ordered the cheesy potatoes and asparagus and... More
