Description: Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching days with rustic yet upscale dining. Located on Saguaro Hill and overlooking Black Mountain and the Sonoran desert foothills, the restaurant’s ambience inside is as captivating as the setting outside. At Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House, a hacienda style dining room, enclosed patio and private wine room boast artistic touches such as straw-packed walls, sandstone and slate accents, woodwork from local mesquite, and a wood-burning fireplace in each room. The interior recalls the original ranch house built by Jackson (Manford) Cartwright in the early 1900s. His father, “Red” Cartwright, was a pioneering cattle rancher in Cave Creek in the late 1800s. The family ranch operated for three generations and more than a century, and is still in use today. Chefs continue this tradition with all-natural meats, including Arizona beef, Colorado range-fed lamb, and North American elk and buffalo slow-cooked over a crackling mesquite wood fire. Also enjoy fresh seafood, house-made bread and desserts, a Wine Spectator Award-winning wine list and fine whiskies, bourbons and Scotches. Cartwright’s is available for private events and off-site catering. Reservations are recommended.

Had dinner with friends and it was a nice dining experience. Food was good, great bread, portions generous. The 8 oz filet which was perfectly cooked and very tender, the leek and Gorgonzola fondue was was light and a perfect compliment to the meat. I substituted the hash browns for the sweet potato hash, very tasty, had corn and a... More

Menu variety is good. Quail, perogies and other unexpected dishes to accompany the steaks and more traditional fare. Cold beer, Moscow mules in copper mugs, and decent deserts.

We were surprised by the complexity and sophistication of all the menu items, as well as the great western ambience. Service was very prompt and spirited. Will definitelyreturn. Would like to do one of their "Arizona history dinners".

First, our server Mary Louise was fabulous. She was attentive but not intrusive. Her recommendations were outstanding! My friend and I were out celebrating her birthday and having a girls getaway. We shared the Duck appetizer, the Tenderloin Medallions and a salad. I don't live in valley. I would make a special trip for the Duck appetizer. It was amazing.... More

My ribeye was terrible. It was gray, not at all juicy, and not properly grilled. A steakhouse should never freeze their meat. Total disappointment. The "fresh" side of corn was tasty but looked sad. Almost like it came out of a can. You know, like some of the kernels are bright and puffy and some are smashed, discolored and watery.... More

I'm a local here and me and 2 guests had dinner. We all ordered the Buffalo steak at $32.00 an entree and it was dry tough and horrible. We were way too polite about it because my friend's son was in town and didn't want to make a scene which we should have returned it on the spot! We did... More

The food was excellent and the service fabulous. There were three vegetarian entrees at a steak and seafood restaurant! I was very pleased with The Meadow, it was satisfying and flavorful. My fiance really enjoyed every bite of the elk/bison/beef trio.

Very nice server and hostess. Got there 20-30 minutes early for 7pm dinner reservation. Original thought was to perhaps have a drink at the bar during Happy Hour, it was packed. At least no problem getting seated. We've been in previously and the kitchen has a good reputation, especially working with meat. This visit Rib-Eye and NY Steak were our... More
