Description: Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching...
Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching days with rustic yet upscale dining. Located on Saguaro Hill and overlooking Black Mountain and the Sonoran desert foothills, the restaurant’s ambience inside is as captivating as the setting outside. At Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House, a hacienda style dining room, enclosed patio and private wine room boast artistic touches such as straw-packed walls, sandstone and slate accents, woodwork from local mesquite, and a wood-burning fireplace in each room. The interior recalls the original ranch house built by Jackson (Manford) Cartwright in the early 1900s. His father, “Red” Cartwright, was a pioneering cattle rancher in Cave Creek in the late 1800s. The family ranch operated for three generations and more than a century, and is still in use today. Chefs continue this tradition with all-natural meats, including Arizona beef, Colorado range-fed lamb, and North American elk and buffalo slow-cooked over a crackling mesquite wood fire. Also enjoy fresh seafood, house-made bread and desserts, a Wine Spectator Award-winning wine list and fine whiskies, bourbons and Scotches. Cartwright’s is available for private events and off-site catering. Reservations are recommended.

The staff was wonderful!

I had to eat dairy free. The wait staff and chef were non-judgemental and very helpful. I had an amazing buffalo tenderloin w/broccolini and spaghetti squash. Perfect!

Parents took me during a visit to Phoenix. I had elk steaks and they were delicious. Service was excellent. A very good place to go if you are a fan of steakhouse style fare.

Have long preferred Tonto over its younger sibling Cartwrights but may have to change this preference. Had the pork shoulder with cowboy beans, cippolini and apple - a fun/great dish. My bride had the special surf and turf. Food/atmosphere/service could not have been better. My new fave - and very deservedly so.

Cartwrights has been a staple of Cave Creek for many years and they continue to do an excellent job of innovative appetizers and full meals. They're known for their steaks and presentation and while I don't partake in beef as much anymore, our friends with us love love their beef. The staff are always friendly, fun and make the evening... A fantastic restaurant - the ambiance is warm and welcoming with fireplaces placed strategically around the restaurant. The food was excellent and they had options readily available to meet various food allergies - specifically they cater to gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan diets. My only complaint was that when I made reservations for Christmas Eve dinner, there was no indication that... More

Great food, cozy atmosphere, and completely relaxing. We went for happy hour and ordered apps off the happy hour menu which made a full dinner for us. Oh and yes -- they had delicious raw oysters.

We love Cartwright's. Our favorite place to sit is at the bar...always meeting new people, and always enjoy the conversation. The restaurant is warm and cozy, western chic. Food: Their Caesar or chop salad are great...add beef or shrimp and you have yourself a meal. Oysters, a must. They serve with mignonette, horseradish, and cocktail sauce (oysters SHOULD be served... We really enjoyed everything about Cartwright's and will make it a point to stop by here again. Some of the best steaks and seafood we have had anywhere.
