Went to this place like 5 years ago, returned last week..twice :) Once for breakfast and once for lunch Food was great both times, good portions and flavorful. Definitely recommend this place. You can sit in the restaurant or in the adjoining lounge. We chose the lounge, has a little yesterday" feel....really nice servers too, very helpful. Even tho we... More

I've been coming here, literally, since the place opened back in the 70's. They, like most local, long-term family style restaurants, have had their ups-and-downs and the UPS have far exceeded the downs. The menu is consistent, scrumptious and satisfying. One of the latest steps they have taken is to revert back to more 'home-made' things made on site rather... More

As a Wasilla resident I've had the pleasure of eating at Windbreak on several occassions. Whether taking friends to celebrate an occassion, enjoying a moment with my mom, or having a nice meal after a long night at work I have always been impressed by the quality and portion of food as well as the service. I will always go... More

Twice in the last month we brought out of town guests to dinner with us and the service was the worst its been in years. Not a very good impression. Wait staff were flippant, slow, inattentive, inexperienced. Good food and killer steaks.

Those of us who ate dinner were disappointed. One of us had an omelette which was great, but honestly how hard is it to make breakfast?

We had the chicken fried steak, real mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables & bread. It was very good. Just a small cafe, but excellent service, & food was hot & fresh.

The staff is kind, the decor is like a fishing lodge. Definitely Alaska. They have really good food and at a good price. If you live in or are traveling through Wasilla. I would choose here than over chain burger places, fish or steaks for sure.

Found this through TripAdvisor reviews. Great food - we both had an excellent top sirloin and mashed potatoes, with a piece of cherry pie to split - and good service but prices were a bit on the high side. Clean, comfortable with fun decor. We'd eat here again if we're ever back in Wasilla.

We stopped here to eat dinner traveling back from Denali to Anchorage. Three of us had the Halibut Bites. They were absolutely delicious. The batter was very light, and the halibut was great.

The Windbreak - now AKA 'The Trout House' because the owner is a trout fishing fool - has been around for quite a while. It's another local eatery that I've been coming back to since it opened, or since I moved to the area in 1977. The food is as good as it was then, if not better. It's not... More
