I first started eating at Alaska Halibut House in 1997, when I was in Valdez almost every week. I haven't been that regular a visitor for some time, but whenever I have the chance I still go there when in town, and am always glad when I do. The food is prepared to order and is plentiful and high quality.... More

It was handy when we were tired. Reasonably priced for Valdez. If you like Halibut and fries this is a winner. Chowder was a good sub for fries. No charge for us on that sub.

Having food taste like you expect it to is the quality that keeps a restaurant in business for 40+ Years! The halibut is always light and freshly prepared, NOT refried as in other places. The tartar sauce is outstanding. We prefer to eat here on "special days" such as Taco Tuesday or Thursdays for kaluha pork. We often get 'take... More

Don't be deterred from eating at the Alaska Halibut House because it does not look like elegant dining. It is a place to go if you want the best fried halibut and shrimp in Alaska in our opinion. We ordered the fired halibut and shrimp platters and we were very pleasantly surprised. The establishment looks like a hamburger drive-in, but... More

Looked like a place that might be a local favorite. They say they have been there 30 years. Whew, I find that hard to believe except that the place looks like it was decorated 30 years ago. The food was very average. Think Long John Silvers fried fish. The Halibut was OK, but as expensive as it is for 2... More

Good fast SEA food IF you like fried FOOD just wish they would update the resturaunt decor to make it more apealing (to locals and tourists) both inside and out. STILL Great food! A BIT Exspensive for the portions! Would LOVE to have them deliver food,MOST DO NOT HERE and its annoying. Would give a small better rank if they... More

rock fish was the fish of the day and it was very good. the crust was crispy not tempura and not greasy. I requested a replacement for the fries and they offered an additional piece of fish and it ended up being a very large portion. I thought it was very good the place clean staff friendly and I was... Given the name of the place I had high expectations of this place. I ordered the classic fish and chips which were that days special of rockfish. You're kidding me right. It came in a paper boat with shoe string fries ~ bad enough right there but the fish did not look or taste like rock fish at all. The... More

Great place for a quick meal. Everything on the menu I think was fried. We had the fried salmon and the fried halibut. It was good, not great. It's more or less a fast food place. You enter and order, sit and they bring it to you.
