I love Mexican food and to find authentic Mexican food in Valdez was wonderful. Nice quaint place to eat. I would eat there every night if I could.

We were tired of pizza and bread after our 10 day trip and wanted to try something different. Being vegetarian there is very little option in a place where seafood is what everyone serves. We decided to try mexican and Ernestos did no disappoint us. We loved the food. Staff was also friendly and polite. Recommend this place.

Had a sockeye 3 enchilada plate. Both my wife and I enjoyed our non typical meals. Reasonably priced for Valdez. I've got a nice picture of the meals we had but no posting here.

The food was ok. The service was not great. Ordered a frozen margarita and they brought one on the rocks. When we questioned them they simply said "we don't have a blender". Never offered another drink option. When we asked for our check the owner just waved his hand to say he wasn't bringing it to the table, we had... More

Let's be honest. You don't expect great Mexican food really anywhere in Alaska. Perhaps Valdez is the one place you should! Regardless, Ernesto's is really good. Ernesto, himself, is a charming guy who will share stories while serving you drinks. The food is abundant and delicious. We'll be back!

Four of us recently ate there. Prices were reasonable, they had beer and wine but no margaritas. The special was good as were the homemade tamales, but the Empanadas and Chili Colorado were not and those were recommended dishes.

I read the reviews before we tried this place and were we pleasantly surprised! The staff was so friendly and we even chatted with the owner ~ great guy. Let me say that we've tried ALOT of Mexican food here in Alaska and this place was the real deal. Loved the salsa, so fresh and we tried a few things... More

The whole dining experience was unpleasant. Maybe it was a bad day. The chimichanga was unlike any we have ever seen or tasted before and the pork verde was inedible. Besides that, we had to listen to some loud "discussion" in Spanish between the staff in the kitchen. As I said, maybe it was a bad day.

This is an OK Mexican restaurant in a small Alaskan town. Don't expect great things. The food is alright and the servings are adequate. The atmosphere is rather poor, but it is a small facility. As vegetarians we expected a few more options at a Mexican restaurant since they are usually fairly safe bets for us. There were a few... More
