very noisy

The alehouse was quite busy when we stopped in. No room in the restaurant so they seated us at a leaner. The food was o.k., nothing special. Staff although busy were friendly. I wouldn't hurry back .

Travelling on a hot Christmas Eve and stopped for caffeine refil. Lots of staff chatting so ordered coffees and iced chocolate. 15 minutes later I heard the coffee grinder start- did they have a staff meeting. Coffee was pretty good, air conditioning was very good, but please look after your customers before sorting out the weekend.

The service at the Ashburton restaurant was superb--we were greeted immediately and they found us a table when they thought there were none left. The food was great as it always is at Speight's!

I have a liking to the place. I have been there for meals frequently. I have one negative view regarding this venue, and that is the noise. The floor is wooden, and very noisy. I have been at peak dining times on a Saturday evening, when the place is very busy. The staff is the best, and the service good.... More

It was noisy and friendly...all you would expect from an Ale House. I had the Speights Porter...a dark beer that tastes surprisingly light! It was noisy in there...so not great for conversation but the beer as cold, the food was plentiful and staff attentive.

We have dined at Speight's several times. On the last three occasions, we've taken guests with us and all agree that the meals were very good, and the service, excellent. We've tried several different meals on the menu. The pork belly, rib-eye steak and other red meat options were cooked to perfection. Steak for one of us was medium (yummy)... More
