Twice

Went here for dinner twice. Nice cosy atmosphere. Had chicken filo, steak sandwich, pork snitzel and lamb shanks. Was all pretty good except the pork! We classify it as good pub grub. The beers are better than the food!

Lovely large pub with restaurant. Friendly staff. Lovely food. Better menus choice than most of the other bars and restaurants in the area. Plus we were served our foods promptly.

I went here for dinner based on recommendations by our motel host. It didn't disappoint! I ordered the Fish & Chips - the portions were generous and taste was delicious. The tomato and mozarella bread (appetiser) was also delicious. I liked the pub's ambience. Although it was quite a crowded evening, it wasn't too noisy or loud. They did seem... More

We eat here a bit and are always happy with the food and service. It's really good pub food, better than a bunch of restaurants really. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The servings of food are generous and of high quality. I love the salt and pepper squid. My husband loves the ribs.

I find it an easy place to go to, it's not outstanding, but you can expect a good meal for the price. Usually the food is generous, and the staff helpful and the atmosphere ok. Not for the gourmet diner but fine when you just want something to eat.

All establishments vary from time to time as they have new staff and new chefs etc. The sleights Ale House is having a good run. I have been regularly over last six months due to excellent food and service. The steaks and ribs have excelled. Enjoy

The food is typical franchise food.....as it is with no personal touch. Unfair to give a good review as my meal was not very good but I am sure Speights are successfull because of great service they are know for with well priced plain food. My seafood chowder with shells I am sure may have been a one off

I took my son and his partner to speights ale house ashburton for his 20th birthday today. The waitress was really nice and read us the specials. When I heard there was bluff oysters I was very excited! Alas they were shrivelled up little pieces of rubber! As if that wasn't bad enough, when I told the waitress she spoke to... More

The air con was on far too low and even after we asked it to be turned up it was still freezing in there. Nice food however I asked for dressing on the side of my salad and it turned up all through it.

There is a new menu since i last visited. Plenty of choice and some meals offer a smaller portion which is great if you don't like a great big meal. The chefs choice of t-bone steak on a potato bake and sauce was very tasty for those with a good appetite and had plenty of sauce. Well worth a visit.... More
