Great meal, good price

There is a new menu since i last visited. Plenty of choice and some meals offer a smaller portion which is great if you don't like a great big meal. The chefs choice of t-bone steak on a potato bake and sauce was very tasty for those with a good appetite and had plenty of sauce. Well worth a... read more

Meals are always quick, there is always a table never had to wait. Sometimes it is a bit noisy but you can get that if the place is packed. But we find (a family of 5) that packed usually means good food. Staff are very attentive, never had a problem here and continue to return if in the area.

a reasonable menu but seemed a little like Subway where even if you have fresh food it all tastes the same

Everything was below average. I had the "blue and gold" for dinner, the fish was cold and I found some sort of slug in my salad, I was not impressed! My partner had the black cherry chicken and it was undercooked to say the least. The service was very slow as well, I can understand they were busy but the... More

The alehouse was quite busy when we stopped in. No room in the restaurant so they seated us at a leaner. The food was o.k., nothing special. Staff although busy were friendly. I wouldn't hurry back .

Travelling on a hot Christmas Eve and stopped for caffeine refil. Lots of staff chatting so ordered coffees and iced chocolate. 15 minutes later I heard the coffee grinder start- did they have a staff meeting. Coffee was pretty good, air conditioning was very good, but please look after your customers before sorting out the weekend.

The service at the Ashburton restaurant was superb--we were greeted immediately and they found us a table when they thought there were none left. The food was great as it always is at Speight's!

I have a liking to the place. I have been there for meals frequently. I have one negative view regarding this venue, and that is the noise. The floor is wooden, and very noisy. I have been at peak dining times on a Saturday evening, when the place is very busy. The staff is the best, and the service good.... More
