Met family from Christchurch and Timaru at this restaurant for a family birthday. Staff were so helpful I asked when booking could I bring our own Birthday cake no problem. Staff were so helpful hide the cake out the back kept chilled and when we were ready brought it out with candles lit ready to go. Also provided plates and... More

The calamari was fantastic. Definitely recommended! Loved the schnitzel too and salad also. I wanted dessert but could not fit it in.

We'd been here for an alfresco drink a few times so thought we'd try some lunch. Firstly, although there was only one other table dining the service was really really slow, the waitress herself was lovely we just got sporadic service. Food portions were huge! My partner opted for small ribs - I dread to think what large are like!... More

I keep going back to Speights Ashburton because the staff are so friendly. They welcome me by name each time I enter there restaurant. Their menu is great and the portions are plentiful. It is pleasing to see families of all sizes and ages enjoying the atmosphere. It is a great place to meet up with the locals too. Speights... More

Fun upscale pub-like atmosphere. The food is only okay but the portions huge. I had a chicken and brie sandwich, which was fine but nothing special . Hubby had a full plate of barbecue ribs (huge portions) but they were very greasy. We are spoiled having had some awesome ribs in the States (especially Memphis TN) and these did not compare.... Popped in on a warm afternoon, the beer was welcoming and the historic venue appealing. This place has a nice outdoor seating area out the back and whilst it boarders the car park and roadway, is sheltered enough to be 'out of the way'. Ordered a bar snack (nachos) and while it was an ample serve, the toppings were a... More

My husband and I really enjoyed our recent meals with the lovely staff at Speights Ashburton. We don't often get our work rosters to coincide so when we do we try to make the most of it. This month we chose to try Speights again and were not disappointed. The staff seated us promptly and were very attentive throughout our... More

This is one of a favourite restaurants as the meals are always tasty, a good size and price. Only downside if it is really busy can be quite noisy but they always give you a table in the corner if available and you ask. Staff are always polite and helpful. Desserts are great but i don't usually have room after... More

We arrived for a single malt prior to dinner across the street. Very nice bar, clientele, and service. Many folks were having dinner, and in good spirits. On a future visit this holiday, we may opt for a full dinner. Impressed with the ambience, service, and clientele. The KIWIS are the greatest!!
