We had to wait a considerable time to be seated prior to our meal. We had booked for our evening out. Initially we were given water, specials and able to order drinks which we waited some time for. Our dinner order was taken and again we had to wait quite a while for our food to come out. My pork... More

We went to this restaurant last night. In short, very poor service. We had booked for 7pm (4 adults, 2 children). We arrived, waited in the bar to be seated, had our order taken at 7:15pm, but by 8:30 had still not received our starters! Eventually they arrived at 8:40pm, by which time the children were very edgy. An apology... More

I ordered the Scotch fillet Steak, medium rear. The steak was good, but seemed more like a standard pub fare meal, rather than the Classy Restaurant that it looks like. The Outdoor waiting area is a bit chilly, and not very welcoming.

It was my last evening in Ashburton, having taught at the Braided Ribbons Quilt Symposium, and a group of tutors and committee members (12 of us) had dinner at the bar. We were tired and hungry, but had to wait quite a while for our food. When I enquired as to how much longer we would have to wait, I... More

In Ashburton for a family reunion. Thought we would try Braided. Only low light of the whole weekend. I ordered the rabbit entrée. Very disappointing choice. Way over priced for quality of food. My wife ordered the shoulder of lamb. Was close. Unfortunately the pricing was very much Sydney and Melbourne pricing for small country town. Check other options.

We ate here on our first night in Ashburton and were pleased we did. My husband had the Wakanui eye fillet and reported that it was very nice. I had the braised brisket with black eyed beans. It was meltingly tender and had very nice flavours. The service was very attentive and friendly throughout. Our meal of 2 mains with... More

We travelled around NZ South island for two weeks. This restaurant is one of the best. We ordered the calamari, burger, pasta and seafood chowder. We enjoyed the food very much. Ambience was nice too. Although a little pricey, we still think that it is worth a visit if you are in Ashburton.
