The Pioneer is tucked away under the hideous Nautilus building, set a bit back from the main drag of Orewa. The German owner was friendly and the place did have a Teutonic vibe, although considering it was Christmas time the decorations were very... More

We pre booked a fixed meal for 25 people and it went well. Our roast dinner was served to all of is in a short time. The meal was cooked well the vegetables firm as I like them. The sweet was well presented. The bar has a really good range of draught beers, the German wheat beer brought back memories... More

We caught them as the kitchen was closing but they were very accommodating and kept the kitchen open to serve us Dinner. Good value and tasty food. Friendly staff and a great selection of food options on their menu.

Gret place to meet up with friends at lunchtime. In colder weather they light the outdoor fire and you can sit at the outside bar in the warm and watch the world go by. Not the greatest of views outside but it has a great atmosphere at the bar, is central, and the owner, and customers, were very friendly. Great... More

Hey, this is a neat little place with very friendly service and a good range of beers, plus happy hour! I enjoyed the beer and company, but dinner was lacklustre - truthfully great for fries at the bar, but for dinner I would advise elsewhere as did seem all a little frozen/deep fried.

We popped in here to get out of the rain for a beer whilst we looked for somewhere to eat, but after looking at the tempting menu we stayed. The food came out quickly and was prepared to a very high standard. They also have a few German specials on the board (I think a German bloke owns it) and... More
