Good find

This was our second choice , as many other restaurants were closed on Monday. The service was super attentive, and the menu offered many deviations from the standard Spanish fare, and was served hot! The rice dish was a risotto type dish, and the mashed potatoes were very tasty. We each ordered our... read more

Not the tourist trap. Typical cuisine with local wine. Try the menus, several levels depending on how much you want to eat. Excellent quality vs value.

Walked all round Avila trying to avoid the tourist traps and eventually came across this proper restaurant. The food was excellent and came with a lovely bottle of wine and water, and was great value for money. The following night we went for a drink and ended up eating tapas at one euro per plate.

The restaurant was very busy when we passed by at lunch time & we liked the look of the outdoor seating area. It was much quieter when we returned at 8:30 ish, but still early in Spanish time. We moved inside to a very elegant dining area with lovely lighting & gentle unobtrusive music in the background. We chose one... More

I went with my girlfriend for the first time to Avila without having any reference about the restaurants there. We decided to have lunch here after checking the menu chart displayed at the entrance, the prices seemed to be very reasonable. The food was fantastic, we ate patatas revolconas, rissotto and chuleton. All of them were tasteful and well presented.... More

We tried to follow Tripadvisor restaurant number 1 option but it was closed due a holiday. Therefore se consider this restaurant follow the locals at the same block. Great surprise: the waiter Johnny pointed the most ordered Ávila region plates: Patatas Revolonas, Queso de Cabra em Hojaldrabe and, of course, the huge Avila's Chulleton. Delicious. Try this restaurant if the... More

Sometimes in Spain you choose a restaurant simply because it is open when you want to eat lunch...say, around noon-ish. This is how we happened upon Reyes Catolicos when our stomachs were rumbling. The menu del dia was very reasonable and had all of the Avila dishes that we wanted to try. Our favorite part of the meal was the... More

After a few hours in Avila had lunch here & what a lovely treat. Had the menu del dia which was a bargain at 16 euro a head. We both started with the local soup with egg in it, very tasty & wholesome. Mains were crispy fried pork strips & lamb stew which were both delicious and for desert continuing... More

We stopped here largely because the terrace was nice and it was well located despite the scanty reviews here on TA. Overall it seemed to be a restaurant that tries too hard. We started with a salad of small clams. fresh ricotta, oranges and jalapeño peanuts (which because it's Spain were really vinegar peanuts with no chili at all). It... More

We ate here twice in 2 days which I think says it all. Each time we had the set menu - I think this was about 17euros for a 3 course meal including wine. From that menu the chuleta (steak), pork and the beans with chorizo are to be recommended. The service was vey good, but they didn't speak English... More
