I would always come here when I visit. My aunts like to take me here because it has many of the things we need in one convenient location in a pretty compact area. My favorite place to eat in this market is the "banh canh" and my favorite food here is "banh canh ngot" (sorry about any incorrect spellings -... More

A great Vietnamese market without the pushy vendors so common elsewhere in Vietnam. Chau Doc is not really on the tourist map yet so a visitor still gets lots of smiles and "hellos". Good place to stock up on fruit for your boat trip to Phnom Penh or Vietnam.

Great for pics - unusual foods, great characters - all keen to see their photos! It was all locals when we went - no westerners - so you may struggle to find something you need? Very few speak any non-Vietnamese. Great for people watching and sampling the smells and flavours...

We walked thru this market and enjoyed it because the sellers weren't pushy like many of the other markets we had visited (especially in Ho Chi Minh). I will also add that you could tell you were a little off the beaten path since most of the sellers did not speak English at all or very little.

After spending time in larger cities in SE Asia, Chau Doc is a refreshing change, with a local, small-town vibe. The market was great to wander around for an hour or so and all the sellers were really friendly: always waving and saying hello. There is a bit of staring at travellers, but don't be put off!!! Just smile and... More

Language was some what a barrier but hand signals and then help from some school children made for some bargains to be bought

We often graze in markets and this one was fine. Over different stalls for different things, be it iced coffee with sweet milk, bahn Mie or something that looks good in the wok and tastes just as good, but havent got a clue what they call it. Its just a matter of trying.

This was one of the nicest markets we have visited. Clean, few tourists. We weren't hassled to buy things. A real local market. Great fun.
