Following a tiring, exhausting, yet exciting and energizing trek on the glacier in fog, mist, and drizzle, this restaurant felt like coming home to relax and eat. We went for a 11.30 am 3 hour trekking on the glacier with MICA guides (reviewed separately). We were starving following the trek as it was 4 pm with only a small breakfast... More

This is a restaurant and accommodations. The restaurant is very good indeed but I would not wish to stay at poorly appointed rooms regardless of the lovely views of the Matanuska Glacier and the snow peaked mountains. We ate there twice, one brunch and one dinner on separate days. Excellent fayre albeit on a limited menu but the homemade pies... More

Please understand that, like many people, the lodge dogs have food allergies. While you may think that it is cute to sneak the dog bits of food while no one is watching it actually causes the dog to have an allergic reaction. The owner was simply trying to keep the dogs from breaking out in hives and suffering unnecessarily. More

The restaurant has big windows which open to a view of mountains and a glacier. Hand-carved wooden tables, many stuffed trophy wild animals, including a musk ox, bears, beavers, sheep, and more. Children would enjoy seeing these. Food was good. They have some good Alaskan beers and homemade pies.

Ran across Long Rifle on a rainy, foggy day. The view was still wonderful of Matanuska Glacier. We had nice lunch food-burgers and sweet potato fries. Very good. Very quaint, unique place. I think it would be more busy at night with the bar area.

It had a relatively mall menu, but you will find something for everyone. The Glacier burger and sweet potato fries were yummy! GREAT view of Matanuska Glacier.

The view is beautiful - a little confused why the rooms' porches face the road and not the view? But, we were there to eat and with that the service was a little strange. They say full bar, and when we asked about making something the waitress said something to the effect that they don't want to try it, just... More

This cool little restaurant is settled in overlooking the Galcier with some beautiful views. The Coffee is pretty good and the food is priced decently and well prepared. I had the Philly Cheesesteak with fries and my wife had the Cheeseburger with onion rings. Both were very good, but the fries reminded me of my mom's fries she used to... More

2 friends and myself were driving from Fairbanks to Anchorage and had come across Sheep Mountain Lodge further up the rod so stayed there for the night. Next morning when we left we came across this place so stopped in for brunch. The people were very welcoming, views stunning and restaurant lovely and cosy. Food was very good and when... More

This is the only place to eat near the Matanuska Glacier and we were hungry after trapsing around on the glacier. We were pleasantly surprised. The burgers were good, staff very friendly and the view of the glacier was awesome.

This restaurant had the best scenic view from a table that I have ever seen. There is nothing better than eating good food with a glacier in the background. The prices were right, wait staff was good, and food was great. There is alot of interesting taxidermy animals. We sat near a bison. The address says Palmer but its not... More
