Obviously popular with local folks...we really enjoyed it! Lots of interesting choices! We were there on a Friday night and the staff was struggling a bit to keep up, but they were polite and kept us informed.

I'll be straight with you. - Kodiak isn't exactly a restaurant mecca. I've lived here for about a year due to a Coast Guard transfer, and I'll tell ya right now the restaurant selection here is meh. You're really better off cooking at home! But, the Powerhouse is one I've visited over and over. The food is much better than... More

Perhaps we hit the place on an off day, but the service was awfully slow for the dining room only being half full. But regardless, we were happy when the main courses came. Both the Fisherman's Platter and the Shrimp Tempura were excellent. Avoid the clam chowder though. It tasted like it came from a can.

Our B&B hosts said it was a must try so we did. Not only is it crazy busy but we thought the food was only average for the price. The portions were decent as we were able to have leftovers but I would not go out of my way for the food.

The food was surprisingly good and the view was great of the bay, and the birds, and the boats. This is the only water front dining in Kodiak, according to a life long resident who recommended it. The dining room, itself, was ok, but not great. But then, I didn't feel bad about not being dressed up.

We went as part of a group of 50 or so out-of-towners. I know they tried hard, but the food was really quite average. The sushi was more rice than fish, and the buffet dishes were not labeled so I did not know what I was eating. But, the service was brisk and friendly and the view amazing of the... More

The fish and seafood are the freshest, and the sushi arrangements really creative. The price is really low for the quality you get. Lunch bargains are a must. The staff is really cheerfull and nice. Always up for an advice on the menu ... or town attractions. The view on the harbor and the ships passing by give a lively... More

Good sushi and other food. Nice view of the channel and often eagles on the railing. Parking lot is a mess, but worth it. Friendly staff.

The Old Powerhouse Restaurant is my favorite fine dining spot in Kodiak City... They specialize in gourmet Japanese food, and serve the very freshest seafood available in a nice setting along the waterfront (lots of windows to take in views of the boats & marine life). My favorite dish (which I always order here) is the Chirashi Sushi -- a... More
