Sushi place with fresh Alaskan Seafood

Favorite sushi spot to go to when in Kodiak. Located on the water, it serves up fresh Alaskan Seafood when in season as well as other Sushi and Sashimi staples. Menu includes other Japanese favorites for those not interested in Sushi. Food is ample and service good.

One of my favorite aspects of the Powerhouse is the friendly staff. Fun views, watch the sea lions, puffins and boats. Sushi is good, along with the overall full menu.

We were recommended to go here for lunch when we were staying in Kodiak and are very pleased that we did. Had the Bento lunch box and it looked so pretty and tasted great. Nice combination of hot and cold Japanese-ish food. Definitely worth a visit if only for the views out over the channel with passing fishing boats and... More

We only thought we were going to enjoy Old Powerhouse once but then got delayed on Kodiak and were able to go twice! The sushi is fresh and much of it is local. The restaurant is right on the channel so there are great views of fishing boats, etc. Service can be slow if they are busy, and reservations are... More

I was really surprised with the quality of this high end (but affordable) fusion restaurant in Kodiak. Twelve of us ate there after a week of salmon fishing, and there was a lot of sharing. I had cold soba, always a favorite of mine, but got to sample various sushi as well. Everything was delicious, the service was efficient and... More

We love the PowerHouse and eat here regularly. The bento boxes for lunch are an excellent value and include a nice variety of dishes. Our favorite is the sushi though - Tommy San does an amazing job and we enjoy it all. Try the Blackjack or the Midnight Rolls, or whatever he has on special that night. Also the view... More

First off, great food. Some of the best sushi I have ever had. We came it at about 1:00 PM on a weekday. The place was jammed. The servers were hustling, but the service ended up being slow. Recommend calling ahead in the summer.

The food at the Powerhouse is very good, a nice change from the general poor quality of Kodiak restaurants. As our local friends warned us, "Don't assume all the meals will come out together." Sure enough, one person's food arrived after the rest of us had finished. The service is lacking but the staff is personable. They are certainly not... More

Japanese style food with an American twist. Good food at a slightly elevated prices; lunch is cheaper. Prompt service with a great view; if you are there on a sunny day, enjoy it by sitting outside overlooking the shipping channel. Walkable to from most places near the harbor.

I really can't speak for the food but the service was horrendous! We were seated right away and then totally forgotten about. We were never acknowledged even though wait staff walked by us a dozen times. We waited 20 minutes and no one even said "we'll be right with you"....Left and went somewhere else. I heard the food is good... More
