They seem to ignore you if you are not a local. They know you are going to get back on the cruise ship and are not likely to come back, so they don't seem to want to waste their time. We came in just before 2 other parties. We were seated, and then completely ignored, while the people who the... More

This is a comfortable '50s retro café with all the familiar adornments/logos from another era you would expect in such a place. We ate there twice waiting for a small boat cruise to Sitka (late night comfort food and a more-than-ample breakfast the next morning.) Both were fine - nothing spectacular, just good food. If you go, sit at the... More

Thought I would go in and get 'local halibut' fish and chips but not the case. The triangle shaped fish was most likely Captain Highliner fish sticks and most certainly not halibut worthy of the $23 price tag. Not to mention our server was far from friendly and downright rude. Very disappointing.

Stayed in Ketchikan 3 days, had breakfast at the pioneer cafe for the 3 days. All of the breakfasts were good, hot, and plenty of it! Had the three eggs, with sausage, home fries, and biscuits with gravy, combo one day. Had the three eggs with different meats combo another day. Service was good. Never waited for anything. The staff... More

A quick cup of coffee but it was great! Lots of options and a nice place to sit and chat. We needed to get out of the heat.

Took the kids here after salmon fishing. Great food, burgers and salads! Very friendly staff, definitely recommend. Reasonable prices too.

Lots of tables and an extensive menu. Great breakfast choice but like everything in Ketchikan, don't be in a hurry. Don't plan on stopping for a quick breakfast on your way to the fishing charter. Cruise ships aside, there's nothing quick in Ketchikan! Whatever, you won't go away hungry! As for my four stars, I tend to rate places based... More

I ate at the Pioneer Cafe at least 5 times during my stay in Ketchikan. I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. The Pioneer has seating at a counter as well as in booths. I found the service to be casual, friendly enough, and not rushed. The food was pretty typical greasy spoon, in a good way. Portions were ample.... More

Ate here for lunch while in port. A classic 50's diner that appears to be attended by locals and tourists. The food was excellent and unique. The Reindeer Dog and the Halibut were very tasty. The Serve was solid but unexceptional.
