We have eaten in the Gold Room many times and continue to find that it has consistently good seafood and good service. Someone didn't show to work, so only one server for whole room. No backup? My wife's risotto was dry and hard - not creamy like most risotto. Room is tired, just like rest of the hotel. Pretty sad for what must have been an elegant place in its time.

Wasn't terribly impressed with the food or the service. Wasn't terrible... I've had worse. For the price paid you'd just expect more. Seems like people think the Gold Room is high class... I'd be willing to bet they haven't eaten at a "real" classy restaurant.

The crab cakes tasted like they were rotten. Halibut fish and chips mostly dough. Ate in Bubble room, waitress not very helpful, only gave us a bar menu but saw people getting served other food, apparently you can order off restaurant menu too but not given that option. It was a birthday meal, and the free entre - the lesser cost of two - was a temptation to experience their reputed ambiance, which is the best yet in Juneau. Waited an hour until we got our order. One waitress for the room, but not crowded. Chowder was thick and good. Salmon good but over cooked. My wife said the tuna was very good. Overall a disappointment. The best part of the evening was a guitar player who was wonderful; never took a break and played superbly but unobtrusively.

My wife and I have eaten at the Gold Room several times. We usually have a very good experience but not always. The food can be very, very good and service is typically okay. Seven if us ate dinner at the Gold Room. Most had either the rockfish or the salmon, but we also tried the beef and chicken dishes. All the food was good or very good. Too bad the food does not live up to the ambiance. It is worth a visit here just to dine with the magnificent Sydney Lawrence paintings and crystal chandeliers.

The Gold Room is Juneau's Pump Room. Very few hotel's have restaurants have as wonderful as the Gold Room. If you want a great romantic meal out of the tourist trap part of Juneau, it would be hard to find a better place than this.
