We have eaten in the Gold Room many times and continue to find that it has consistently good seafood and good service. Some reviews don not rate it very well, but consider that it is in Juneau, Alaska and not a big US city. The restaurant often has live music and we enjoyed a great guitar player and singer on... Someone didn't show to work, so only one server for whole room. No backup? My wife's risotto was dry and hard - not creamy like most risotto. Room is tired, just like rest of the hotel. Pretty sad for what must have been an elegant place in its time.

Wasn't terribly impressed with the food or the service. Wasn't terrible... I've had worse. For the price paid you'd just expect more. Seems like people think the Gold Room is high class... I'd be willing to bet they haven't eaten at a "real" classy restaurant.

The crab cakes tasted like they were rotten. Halibut fish and chips mostly dough. Ate in Bubble room, waitress not very helpful, only gave us a bar menu but saw people getting served other food, apparently you can order off restaurant menu too but not given that option. But not sure it would be any better. Lots of great options... More

It was a birthday meal, and the free entre - the lesser cost of two - was a temptation to experience their reputed ambiance, which is the best yet in Juneau. The meal started with crackers paired with an olive spread that was salty delicious. Next was the wonderful hearty bread with three choices of gourmet butters: a Dijon, a... More

Waited an hour until we got our order. One waitress for the room, but not crowded. Chowder was thick and good. Salmon good but over cooked. My wife said the tuna was very good. Overall a disappointment. The best part of the evening was a guitar player who was wonderful; never took a break and played superbly but unobtrusively.

My wife and I have eaten at the Gold Room several times. We usually have a very good experience but not always. The food can be very, very good and service is typically okay. I would say the prices seem a bit high for overall experience. We save going here for once in a while occasions. Bottom line good enough... More

Seven if us ate dinner at the Gold Room. Most had either the rockfish or the salmon, but we also tried the beef and chicken dishes. All the food was good or very good. The king salmon was perfectly cooked and came with some rice and grilled asparagus, which were good, but not exceptional. Salads were extra and were very... More

Too bad the food does not live up to the ambiance. It is worth a visit here just to dine with the magnificent Sydney Lawrence paintings and crystal chandeliers.

The Gold Room is Juneau's Pump Room. Very few hotel's have restaurants have as wonderful as the Gold Room. If you want a great romantic meal out of the tourist trap part of Juneau, it would be hard to find a better place than this.
