Historically significant, but still a tourist trap type place. That aside, it is worth more than a peek. Food and service is above average for Juneau if you get in when the cruise ships are not in town. They close early.

Must stop and have an adult drink at the Red Dog Saloon. Had a great time on our whale watching with Harv & Marv's Outback Alaska and this was the best way to end a great day in Juneau. Made me feel like I stepped into a little of the old time of Juneau. Don't miss this stop.

Based on my prior knowledge, I expected this place to be really rocking. However, on a quiet afternoon, it was almost serene. I had a specialty cocktail, which was tasty. If I was looking for nightlife, I might return here. I'm not sure how it would be when the cruise ships are in.

This is an honest to goodness saloon with swinging doors, so just expect that if you go there. It's a quirky place, filled with interesting Alaskana, and business cards stuck all over the walls. And writing all over the walls and doors as well. I've heard the prime rib is great even though I did not try it. I just... More

We tried to go to the gift shop, but it was closed. Inside was very small, and we really didn't see much to it. We had heard so much hype, we had expected more.

This saloon is currently owned by a group of local residents. Next to the saloon is the Red Dog mercantile for souvenirs. Sawdust on the floor. Exit through a set of swinging doors. The atmosphere is old time as the bartenders and wait staff are dressed in old time clothing. Entertainment was in the form of a very good piano... More

The actual saloon is pretty neat. It's an old building with lots of old memorabilia and history. There's a lot of stuff that definitely caters to tourists which isn't a bad thing but I've seen it all before. The food was typical boring bar food that seemed to be frozen, heat to eat type stuff. I couldn't tell that there... More

Fun tavern, food good. We visited in July, 2015 later in the evening. Must have been near closing time. Very few people there. Looked like a fun place, but rather quiet the night we were there. Wait staff was polite and professional. Food was good, not great, atmosphere was dark, but interesting. Would like to visit again some time to... More

The atmosphere was extremely welcoming. Meals were very simple but well presented Great variety of Tap beer. Local and regional. The show they put on is both funny and entertaining.

Awesome visit! Got to stop in for a Duck Fart shot and listen to the stage acts and songs! Great times and great souvenirs!
