This was a big disappointment for me, I read reviews and was excited to go to the Thane Ore House, maybe at one time this was a great place to eat but now they're just going through the motions. The food was average at best, the restaurant didn't seem to be kept up well anymore, the service was very friendly... more

We spent two weeks in Alaska this summer. One of my favorite eating places on the whole trip was the Thane Ore House. As we were driving toward the Thane Ore House I told my husband how much I enjoyed the corn relish at the salad bar and I really hoped they still served it. This place sounded touristy, but a local guide said its where local families go to eat. It's a few miles out of town, but they sent a van to pick us up at our hotel, which was great. I just returned from a business trip to Juneau and got a tip from a local business person on the best salmon in town.
