Ate at the Silverbow for lunch. Bagel used for sandwich was so hard it hurt to chew it. That taken with the fact it was a very expensive lunch made for a pretty poor experience. Had heard much better things about this place in general but sure didn't live up to the reputation. Not worth trying again for me.

Thanks so much for saying. We appreciate hearing this. We do make a traditional NY style bagel that is boiled before baked. That does give it a hard shell with a chewy center. Maybe its not for everyone. We also bake from scratch multigrain bread, sourdough (form 100 year old starter), buttermilk bread, foccaccia, garlic rosemary and buttermilk bread. Our... More

it's been at least 10 years since I have stepped foot inside the Silverbow Bakery and once inside the door today not much has changed. Decor?? horrible, dated, tired, no place to park, under whelming, service slooooowwww as molasses in January. This place needs a makeover/remodel like nobodies business! It's not Hip, it's not funky, it's just dumpy. Staff is... More

Cool place tucked in town. Fresh baked goods and fresh foods. The yogurt and granola is something I've been trying to recreate without success! Send some to South Carolina :)

Thanks so much for coming in. Come on back and we'll give you a tour of how we make that incredibly hard to stop eating granola. We make it 60 pounds at a time. LOL. More

And heavenly bagels and so forth. Well, Juneau has a treasure in the delightful Silverbow. This small bakery cafe has an eco-hipster vibe and clientele from all walks of life. Super staff, wonderful baked items, and delicious coffee and teas make this a good stop for a quick meal or for take-out on a busy morning. This trip, I had... More

The sign read: best cookies in Alaska, so we had to go in. We actually went two different days. The first cookie was really good (peanut butter and chocolate). But the cookie on the second day (almond chocolate chip) was just okay. So, the average of those two wasn't "the best" but just "an okay cookie". We didn't try anything... More

Thank you for letting us know that we need to do some work on our signature cookie! I did some sleuthing on your behalf and I believe that I came to a solution. I hope that you come in and try another one soon. Thankfully the peanut butter cookie was good! Those ones are actually my favorite. We hope to... More

We stayed at the adjoining hotel and had many meals and snacks at the bakery. Loved the food and the casual atmosphere of the bakery. Coffee excellent. Endless tea selections. Bagels great. Baked goods like homemade. Only one complaint, service at the register was always slow.

Thank you for staying with us! I'm glad you loved the food and hotel. At the end of the summer it is always difficult to know how many people we should have on staff, sometimes we are so slow, and other days we are very busy and unfortunately it results in a bit of a wait. I hope that the... More

In our first trip to Juneau, we were told that we had to stop by this wonderful bakery. We ended up going back two more times as it has GREAT food and a wonderful little wine bar in the back! Even though we got there a little earlier than the wine bar was open (don't judge, we'd just hiked 10... More

We had a wonderful sandwich with the best home made bread! Loved the sour dough. Atmosphere is casual family friendly. They also pack take out lunches.

Thanks for the stellar review! Our bakers will be glad to hear that all of their hard work paid off. Did you know that our sourdough starter is over a hundred years old? Pretty cool huh? Come visit us again soon and purchase a whole loaf of bread to take with you! More

The food from the bakery was delicious, but the bakery itself could use better management, better service.

Well I'm glad that you love our food! Have you tried the wine bar yet? It's pretty fabulous. If you ever feel that you aren't getting the service you deserve, you can always ask for a manager.
