If you are looking for fine dining this is not the spot but if you want a fantastic freshly cooked crab you would be remiss to not stop at The Office Bar. Friendly people, perfectly cooked crab for a great price and cold beer. Add the view and you really can not go wrong!

Great local home town feeling, with excellent crab and decent price. The home photo albums on the pool table were great to look at.

We stopped and ate lunch at this restaurant after our whale watching excursion. We ordered a Dungeness crab to share. It was certainly big enough for the two of us. We also ordered ice cold beer and enjoyed the free peanuts that were on every table. They cook the crabs right outside. The lady cooking them could clean them very... More

Ice cold beer, unbelievable crab cakes, great view and terrific service. Don't be misled, this is not a fancy, classy restaurant that you would expect to see in the states but rather a terrific local bar with great local food cooked on premise outside in big pots. If you want white tablecloth service, go somewhere else. If you want to... More

You can see them pull the Dungeness Crabs out of the water and into the cooking pot.Basically crabs are their only menu item. The owners are super friendly, stopping by the table and chatting with you. Two of us split one crab and one of the owners showed us a trick to picking out the meat-use the tip of the... More

Stopped in here while on a cruise to Alaska. This was one of the ports of the cruise, although most of us were wondering why. About the only thing to do was go shopping in the terminal building (an old fish packing shed) or take a bus ride (or walk) to Hoonah, a mile and half away. Hoonah has maybe... More

We've visited the Office Bar on five different occasions in the past few months so you know we liked it. It's a very no nonsense place...paper plates, plastic utensils...and freshly caught dungeness crab that the just cook for you and put on your paper plate. The crabs are fresh and tasty.Sometimes they are huge and sometimes they are just good sized.you... We must have had the same crabby waitress as other reviewers. She came to our table and scowled, "what do you want"? Wow! If you enjoy your crab cakes on English muffins or if you like "prefab" food that must be warmed in the microwave, then this is the place for you. Wished I had gone back to the ship... More

Get the Dungeness crab. Skip the crab sandwich. Good beer on tap. Reasonable prices. A view of the water. A mix of locals, people who work on cruise ships who may be trying to get away from cruise ship passengers, and some cruise ship passengers they could not escape from. Would I return? Absolutely.

A trip to Hoonah always includes a visit to The Office Bar for fresh Dungeness crab. It is a short 1.25-mile walk (one way) along a beautiful, flat pedestrian path most of the way, along the waterfront. There is also a shuttle (pay) that will take you into town from the cruise ship area.
