A trip to Hoonah always includes a visit to The Office Bar for fresh Dungeness crab. It is a short 1.25-mile walk (one way) along a beautiful, flat pedestrian path most of the way, along the waterfront. There is also a shuttle (pay) that will take you into town from the cruise ship area.

Two choices - a whole crab @ $25 or a crab salad sandwich with a bowl of crab chowder @ $13. The people eating the whole crab seemed to love it. We were not too hungry and picked the soup/sandwich. Both tasted great. The sandwich was on an english muffin which some might not like. Saw the crab literally being... More

This place had all the right characteristics for tourists looking to avoid a touristy lunch - not a chain, locally owned, recommended by our local tour guide - but this is the only place we ate on our entire vacation where we wished we would have gone the touristy route. We got scowls when we walked in with our toddler,... More

This little hole in the wall serves up some of the best Dungeness Crab ever. No frills , just lots of out of this world crustacean. It is the mother load of D Crab . Even on a rainy day this is an experience of all time. Up to your elbows in butter and beer. One of my best meal... More

Great crab and halibut. Limited menu, but it was packed. Also good Alaskan beer. Don't miss in Hoonah.

Whether you walk into or out of town back to your ship, make this a stop.A cold Beer,a mystery shot and a crab or crab sandwich are all worth it. Mary was great and very informative about the town and residents. Her Granddaughter was our waitress, new to the job but hardworking, always smiling and did her best!

We took a shuttle into town from our docking point (on a Cruise). The shuttle driver advised us this was the best place to have crab and her mother worked there. We stopped in and realized the mother owned the place. She has a unique personality that we had fun with. She will not overwhelm you with her friendly attitude.... More

Supposedly the best place to crab in Hoonah. Spoke with the owner, a very weathered woman, she explained where and how she kept the crab. She purchases from a local crabber, she has these large plastic barrels with probably twelve 4" diameter holes drilled all around the sides. She puts about thirty crab into each barrel and submerges them into... More

Went here for the crab legs and they were outstanding! That's the good news! The bad news was the waitress was so crabby she did not great us or offer us a menu~just came up with a pad of paper and a scowl. Everyone has a bad day so maybe this was hers~It did come highly recommended from the cruise... More

The place is very basic, but has fresh, great tasting crab, plus the tasty local Alaskan bear. Don't be fooled by the external appearance, and go.
