Always have great specials and great service, plus great cookbooks to look at while you wait for your dinner… sadly they're moving to a new location in 2014…

Came here with my mate in October of 2013, after calling and making some last minute reservations, they thankfully got us in! I live abroad now and we both STILL talk about this place and how completely perfect it was not only as a meal, but an entire dining experience. Excellent isn't enough to describe this brilliant monument. Consider youself... More

Delicious meal, top notch food! I'm a world traveling foodie and this was one of the best meals I've had in a while. I had locally caught sable fish and the preparation was delicious and perfectly cooked. The restaurant is small so make a reservation, it was definitely one of the best meals we had on our 2 week Alaska... More

Specials on a chalk board. Small menu, not over the top expensive but not cheep either. Good service.

Had this place recommended to us by friends in Alaska. Wow, were they right on the money. As can be expected, prices seem a bit high - but it's Alaska in the summer after all. Anyway, at least at the Mermaid you get what you pay for! The food is high quality and locally sourced. We enjoyed the fish sandwich... More

It's an unassuming little place with 8 tables or so.. (book a table in advance) and the food is absolutely superb! Everything we had was amazing! Best restaurant I've ever been to.. Hands down.

We are local innkeepers in Homer...and are always looking to send our guests (who tend to be a little more affluent and discerning) to the best places in town. Where we send our guests is a reflection on our business...people trust our input, and generally go where were refer them about 75% of the time. We have come here many... More

This place is tucked in the Old Town area, and the menu was a bit outside our comfort zone, but we were so glad we stayed! Our waitress was amazing and really went out of her way to help us find something we'd like, and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing. We will definitely come back again... More

After three dining opportunities, I can unequivocally recommend Mermaid's. Tapas are creative and substantial, salads are expertly prepared and fresh, and main courses have been exceptional. I would add that coffee and desserts are top notch as well. Can be crowded in the summer, but quality doesn't seem to suffer. We have actually driven down from Kenai with the specific... More
