Better Than Anything on the Spit

Our B&B (Halcyon Heights) recommended this restaurant, and we liked it so much we went twice during our 3-day stay. The food was excellent, there was no problem with the service (other people we met had suggested otherwise), and the prices were reasonable. Compare that to the only other... read more

This restaurant was recommended to me and my husband by a local of Homer. We were not disappointed. She told us to order the sablefish (aks black cod in Alaska). It was to die for. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 starts was that our waitress was very friendly but hard to find when we needed something.... More

Homer, Alaska doesn't really go in for upscale dining. But if you drive a little ways out of town to the East, you will come across The Homestead, a steak and seafood sort of place that aspires to that category. Sure, people still wear shorts and jeans here (it is Alaska, after all), but the overall vibe is meant to... More

We had dinner here and it was good but the paella my husband had could have had more seafood. It was too much rice. Service was good.

Quint little off the road find dining restaurant. call ahead for reservations although we just walked in and were seated. Being from the Midwest they had the best steak I have ever eaten-and the most expensive. Didn't expect the high prices but steak was definitely worth it. Lots of finer cuisine on the menu I had no idea was it... More

We ate at this restaurant one night on the way back to our cabin. We had great service and the calamari was the best we have ever eaten.

Outstanding food and impressive wine list. Food was superbly prepared with fresh local ingredients. Fireweed butter topping king salmon was fantastic. This place is a short drive from the spit but has a beautiful setting if you can get a window seat.

Shrimp and scallops risotto was excellent, a perfect blend of seafood, dried tomatoes and cheese. The bread melts in your mouth. Staff working really hard, only one waitress and a hostess to a filled restaurant.

This restaurant was recommended to us. The food was excellent but the service was horrible. Our waitress didn't even thank us for coming after we paid the bill.

Ate here last night. Food rating was good to very good but service was not. Seated us and took order but never checked back after food arrived to see if we needed anything else. Brought bill after meal and never said "thanks" "glad you ate with us" or anything. Just set the bill down and left again. When she picked... More
