Great food- great view- great staff

We were very pleasantly surprised at the level and quality of the food. Unique presentation of oysters on the 1/2 shell. They were embedded in seaweed, really lovely. The elevated view was spectacular and the restaurant was situated to take advantage. If in Homer this is a great spot for dinner.

So the views are nice. The place is dated, paper on top of white tablecloths, old furniture do not expect upscale. The gnocci was amazing. The steak was okay but two other meals were terrible! The waitress didn't ask why we were not eating them. The scallops were like rubber. The floral dipped side was like mush. The salmon was delicious... More

This is not your typical SPIT place which is focused on oysters and fish and chips. The steaks and seafood dishes are amazing. The only down side is the kitchen can't handle larger groups well.

What an unexpected find! This restaurant has a solid yet creative menu. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is really inviting. Do not be deceived by the simplicity of the exterior this menu is really fantastic. From the fresh and creamy oysters to the delicious sablefish. You cannot go wrong with whatever you order. Make sure and leave room... More

The Homestead is about 8 miles out of the main part of Homer but well worth the drive. Upon arriving you find a large log cabin-style building, nicely decorated with flowers at the entry and a pleasant, open interior. Many tables have a very nice view of the woods outside and mountains beyond. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.... More

After some searching online for a place to eat in Homer, we ended up at the Homestead and were immensely glad that we did. It ranks as one of the top restaurants I've eaten at in the state -- right up there with Marx Brothers, Kincaid Grill and the Captain Cook. We called ahead and had a table near the... More

Delicious meal with a wonderful view . We had been told about this place from another Australian and we were not disappointed. Great variety of dinner meals and reasonably priced. Highly reccomended and nice to be away from the busy area in town

The room, the owners, the chef, the server, the food, the views. What more could you possibly ask? My party had seafood and steak dishes. Halibut with a saffron sauce, to die for!

All these other reviewers can't be wrong, and neither can friends that recommended this place, but the night we were there was pretty rough. They were out of their two seafood dishes (only two in Homer?!), heavy on the steaks and they had a duck special. Bartender greeted us warmly as did the hostess but the server was pretty lackluster.... More

This place is out a ways but worth the drive. The place is a cut above most restaurants in the area. The sea food was delicious seafood and the stakes. the service great.
