The Homestead Restaurant is located east of Homer, next to the tiny burg of Fritz Creek -- and is very much worth the drive out there, to sample their fine cuisine. The menu features deliciously-prepared appetizers, freshly-made salads, creative entrees (including Alaska seafood and meat selections), and delightful desserts -- all served by smartly-attired wait staff in a setting suitable... Fabulous gourmet dining. Some of the best food we have ever had. Steaks were out of this world delicious and wine selection is good. Specialty desserts finished off the meal with a moose in the parking lot. Worth the drive out of town!!

We go a couple of times each summer and have never been disappointed. Prices might of been a bit higher than some of the other local places, but the quality of the meal, location, atmosphere and staff made up for price.

My husband and I went here on our anniversary. It had some mixed reviews, so I was a little worried. However the meal was excellent. All of the food was prepared well and delicious. The staff were very efficient, informative, and friendly, allowing us to just take our time and enjoy several courses over the course of a couple of... More

RANCHET referred to Coho as 'Dog' salmon - it is, in fact, 'Silver' salmon, a highly prized species by many. It is less fatty than 'King', and generally less fishy tasting than 'Red'. If you make a negative comment, it should be correct. As for comments about prices -- somehow, tourists come to Alaska and feel everything should be cheap.... More

This place has excellent sea food and meat dishes. Views are down the hills and across a spectacular bay with the mountain and glaciers framed by the windows. Steamers, game, fresh fish are all excellent. Bar is very nice. Music is a great match to the restaurant. Service is personal and connected, although the staff knows that most customers are... More

It's a drive, but worth it. It's also expensive, but worth it. I've eaten here a number of times over the years and have never been disappointed. Nice place to treat yourself for a special event.

Maybe at one time this was a great place to dine. We had to wait a long time to be seated while the hostess talked with friends. Then we had no service for a very long also, it was a week night. The special for the evening was Coho (Dog) Salmon at very large price tag. Menu price were step.... More

This place is a gem! We made reservations and were pleased that when we arrived a table directly next to a window (with that amazing view) had been set aside for us. So - if you are thinking about going, call ahead and make a reservation. All of the other window tables that evening were already taken. The service was... More

If you are looking for a place to dine that has top notch fine dining in Homer, this is it. The chef creates interesting and oh so delicious dishes. We had a party of 8 there and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choice of entree. Whether you want fresh seafood or a cowboy steak it's there. Appetizers were wonderful as well.... More
